Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes Sandbox paves the way for greatness

Konami's Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes value has come under flak from gamers and the gaming press in equal measure due to its seeming brevity and pricing model. The Sandbox nature of the game is excellent and paves the way for the future of the once linear series. (Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Looking forward to this, contrary to it being short I'm hoping it provides enough memorable thrills to tide me over until Phantom Pain.

Even though I said I wouldn't, I cracked and ended up getting it. I just needed to play it to see for myself. Even knowing how short it was I was still surprised how fast I finished the main mission because I really really took my time exploring the whole area trying not to get spotted. I did feel a little short changed so I'd advise to rent instead of buy. One thing it has done though is make me extremely hyped for the phantom pain. Judging by this, the full game is going to be absolutely incredible.

I'd advise renting it as well even though I love it. It really depends on what you want out of it. I wanted to get 100% completion (I'm at 95% right now.) I've been playing for almost 20 hours so in my own particular case I'm very happy with my purchase. Most people won't go for a 100% completion though so that really doesn't apply to everyone.

In other words, most people should just rent it and see for themselves how long the game actually is instead of just repeating what they heard about.

I totally agree. I can't wait to see the full scale of these new dynamics.

i promise you if EA did the same thing konami did. everyone would pissed. yet its ok cause its "metal gear". god i hope this isn't a trend.

Yah it is. I don't mind forking over 90 $ (total) every 5-6 years for metal gear if they pulled this again. You can do that when the franchise is in many people's opinion the best ever

The difference between EA games and Metal Gear is that Metal Gear is actually good.

The biggest problem is that they will still think its just as good and charge away along with everyone else. So unless gamers are ready for a giant boycott I suggest this practice should be snuffed.....Remember horse armor and online passes?

But it's already there . People are already buying "crap" that arent Worth 20 dollars because they are so called "indie" and "small" games .

Some are the genuine article , but it's pretty much an hipster movement . Wasting money on games that look and feel so poor when they could actually do better .

And I dont even wanna start on mobile phone gaming . And let's not forget many actually happy with purchasing 3-5 hrs games at 60$

So yeah i'll be selfish and just say screw it . I have been for a while with some fighting games dlcs and re-releases . Back when we complained about the horse dlc and passes , some of us were told to STFU and just ignore it , we wouldnt be affected by it .

And now that it's widespread and already out of control , people want us to be responsible and militant ? Screw that .. especially when anti folks i saw in the MGS GZ threads , were the very same sympathetic to the Horse armor dlc . Too late to "grow" principles on the matter .

Arent many actually pissed around here ? You act as if Konami caught less flak for it . That and endless moaning about Kieffer Sutherland for the voice .
Some people are beyond caring , will purchase it anyway . Those people seldom comment on it and you just hear the vocal angry guys .

It's okay cause it's Metal Gear? Have you been living under a rock since GZ released? The amount of whining about the length online AND in real life is unbearable. Funniest thing is about 5% of those whiners actually played the game.

EA could never do this hell I doubt Konomi would try it again just remember a lot of fans did ask for a sample of it when they said that the game won't come out until 2015 or 2016 it sold pretty well so enough ppl wanted it and they got it so fans that did not want to wait got what they wanted I don't see the problem I am sure it is not cheap to make so of course it wasn't going to be free I got a lot of time out of it more replay value than most $60 games IMO.

I have to agree with this dude in a number of ways. While it is short, I've put in more hours into this than Infamous second son (which i platinumed.
Playing the missions over and over again, finding the cassette game, getting s-ranking, completeing the trials and trying to get 100% trophy status for me is such a rewarding experience. The way it is designed is perfect. Yes, it's only downfall is its length BUT if MGS V mission and sandbox design is going to be based on GZ design then phantom pain just jumped to the top of my most anticipated list.
