Vision Tracking Company Wants Your Eyes To Be Next To PS4 Controller

Eye tracking technology is indeed nothing new, however, competitor Sony may soon take the cake when it comes to creepy, invasive Big Brother-style add-ons.

Sony’s Magic Lab research department has been working with SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI), a world leader in “eye & gaze tracking systems,” to develop an attachment that will allow gamers to ...

LOL infowars, pretty good article though.

this thing can make a perfect pair with Project morpheus if they where able to combine it. but then again it might not work well. hopefully the guys at the magic lab can come up with something.

They talked about it in the Spike NA PS4 Launch.
How your eyes could be used to track the movement.
Kinda replacing the right analog stick in the processes (to look around)
It makes me think it's somehow be used in conjunction with the VR headsets, tough I could be wrong.

As interested as I am to see new technology move into the fray of our gaming culture, I'm equally interested to see if all of the Big Brother NSA Skynet Kinect detractors drop their reservations now that it would be coming from the friendly face of Sony... or if this will be met with the same level of fear and spite.

All of that aside, however, this could be really cool. I love technology.

No one deny kinect tech , it's good outside gaming but we didn't see anything from it in gaming that worth the price. Kinect was forced and that's why people acted that way toward it. Same goes for the cloud tech..

I hope you people get it and i hope you are not a troll .

This means nothing to me until they deliver . Easy , useful , support. Give us these things and then i can judge this.

OMG you must be kidding me. You must have lived under a rock if you missed all the big brother NSA nonsense.

"I hope you people get it and i hope you are not a troll ."

I'm really struggling to see how anything I said could be construed as trolling. As Septic said, I was referring to the uproar over fears that Kinect was being used by the NSA spy on users at home, etc. For *those* individuals, I am curious to see how they will respond to a similar situation involving not Microsoft, but Sony.

I hope that helps to clarify things for you.

Don't buy ps eye if you don't trust sony . You can't do that in X1.
This is a feature and NSA is a different thing >.< .

How the hell did that turn the same ?. Man , i hope you get it this time. If not then you win. It's a huge reason of why i didn't buy the x1. So i would do the same to sony if they did what MS did.

Extract from the article:

"It should be noted that Sony was not revealed to be a PRISM participant via NSA contractor Edward Snowden’s leaks, but the company’s partnership with NASA to bring about their new virtual reality headset, Project Morpheus, underscores their fondness of establishing relationships with government entities."

This is simply brilliant.

Go here: What we need is FOVeated rendering in Morpheus combined with using it as a controller.

It can GREATLY INCREASE performance.

This would be great for people that lost both arms or are paralyzed.
