Ubisoft isn’t leaving Xbox 360 and PS3 development behind just yet – it’ll continue to support the consoles for several more years, says its vice president of creative Lionel Raynaud.
And that means current-gen machines will be held back due to this support.
Really? New assassins creed coming to current gen and a different game for last gen? this is supporting old gen whilst releasing current gen games Of course they'll support old gen that has an install base of what 100million? Im certainly not wanting to get stop using my ps3 any time soon! but looking forward to ps4 exclusives
You can't make your new game look too good that people still on last generation consoles are getting crappy games in comparison. People won't buy a game that they feel isn't "good enough to buy". The potential for the games will not be realized until every bit of focus is on the new generation. Otherwise, there will always be considerations, whether technical or marketing-wise, that hold back one so as to make the other still noteworthy and profitable in the eyes of the business holder. Also, the old gen game will make their way to the new gen consoles with "HD ports". That's a no-brainer. Nothing from a major publisher will remain exclusive to last-gen consoles when they can easily port to the next-gen 3 months down the road.
Ubisoft may be making two separate AC games, but the truth is that the money and resources being spent on the last-gen game could have gone towards the current gen game. Developers/Publishers need to ditch last-gen asap.
Not really look at The division and The crew they're a current-gen exclusive.
I think the difference would be more notable in games that are on both last and current gen
Current gen isn't even needed. I could continue on last gen just fine.
The potential for AI improvements is really only going to happen on current generation at this moment. Last gen consoles don't have the RAM/processing speed to handle it and push the same level of graphics they have.
PS3 will be supported for years to come. X360 will loose most support next-year. Wii already has lost most support.
That's great for current gen owners but bad for next gen owners such as myself. More like "next gen limitations for years to come."
Sure they will, and I'm going apple picking with scooby doo
lmfao nice simpsons reference xD
Yay, no need to upgrade till FF XV and/or KHIII releases in US/EU then
Will continue to support old-gen... with Just Dance games. I mean, I highly doubt that they are still going to continue making Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs games for those platforms. It's happening right now with the Wii.
Why isnt the Wii u in the picture?
Well, because the WiiU is an eighth gen console. The Wii was a seventh gen console along with the 360 and PS3 and 8 comes after 7. If eight comes after seven, that makes the Wii eighth gen. Unless you accidentally add the U to the end and meant to just say Wii.
No. The Wii u is considered last gen due to the limited hardware power and the fact that its only receiving PS3/X360 titles from third parties
You say that but power doesn't define generations, the time of release does. The successor to the console of the previous generations is always next gen. If being weaker defined the generation you were in, the PS2 would have been 5th generation instead of 6th, as it was weaker than both the Xbox and GameCube, and the Wii would have been 6th generation instead of 7th. Unfortunately, that's not how console generations work. We are eight generations from the first generation of consoles. That means that the consoles released this generation are eighth gen. Here is a list of all the console generations. Learn something before you continue to call yourself a gamer. http://gaming.wikia.com/wik...
Time frame? It is Current gen but Hardware wise it isnt. And the difference in power between PS2 and the Gamecube wasnt as large as the Wii u and PS4/Xone. So yeah your arguement doesnt work. Your arguement would work if the PS2 was getting PS1/N64 games as a default MOST of the time which is exactly what is happening with the Wii u this generation
I like whAt they're doing with AC, one game for old gen and one for new gen, don't let these ancient consoles hold back gaming anymore please
2 AC games per year confirmed? ;) If you are a true fan of AC this could get expensive.
Great…Now their games will hold back progress for the new machines to be fiddled with..
And then it makes me think... Why did I even bother buying a Next-Gen console now... Screw you Ubisoft, I'll be enjoying my NEXT-GEN TITLES than your crappy last-gen titles. - Before you hit that Disagree button, Think! Is it worth it? Reply to why you disagree with me.
I didnt click disagree but there are still many people who cant afford a current gen console so why exclude them?
Why wouldn't they. As of right now there is 160 million I'm last gen consoles between the 360 and ps3 and only about 10 million between the ps4 and x1. There is still money in last gen not everyone has next gen yet.
Yes but also consider that there are people who cant afford a PS4 or XB1 , and have too keep on with last gen...I think they can make games for both generations without destroing the next gen experiencing...Never-the-less i hope that I see an Far Cry 4 for both systems...I know that not many of you will agree but consider what I said earlier..Also , I trust Ubi to make both those games as good as they can...just like they are doing with Watch Dogs and as they did with Assasins Creed 4 : Black Flag... Thats just my opinion thought...
