With what happened to Oculus, would image tht be a lot more interested parties than what there were a week ago.

What happened with Oculus? They just got more money to accelerate development no?

N4g_null1358d ago

VR has no actual gaming potential. Demos? Yes, Full game experiences? Sorry that is not going to take over. As a niche option maybe.

Sony is doing the smart thing though, they are not the ones who are going to be pushing it forward if they cant think of any good ideas, indies likely have the time. That is a good move.

FYI, VR is not better gaming immersion.

Choppy framerate, sickness, something attached to your face is not a tradeoff for looking to the side, really? Come on.

@MasterCornholio
I get your trolling Nintendo to be annoying but come on, this has nothing to do with them.

Sony has delivered a few good experiences themselves on PS4, but even Colin Moriarity on IGN thinks that Sonys PS4 output has been lacking. They need to focus on nailing the core experience before fracturing the software base with exclusive VR stuff. Those are his words.

"Full game experiences? Sorry that is not going to take over. As a niche option maybe."

Well at least its better than an awkward tablet controller.

PeaSFor1359d ago

so, are you insinuating that getting a better immersion isnt a revelant "gaming potential"?!??

lolwut?

GentlemenRUs1359d ago

It seems like you always come into these types of articles and bash VR for what it is...

Why do you even bother?

Please I'm talking about Razrs horrible tablet.

The Wii U is actually a gaming console designed with a tablet controller so its much better than the RAZR Edge.

How can you say that VR can't give you "full gaming experiences"? We are in the infancy of VR right now. They used to say that television could not deliver what a movie delivers or that movies could not deliver what the stage could deliver... or that mobile games were a niche ... or that digital books were not going to take off... The internet was once just used for the government and for universities. Then Tim Berners-Lee invented the world wide web. Once upon a time not long ago, computers were not used by the mainstream -- they filled rooms. Then, they became smaller, more user friendly and cheaper... Now, we carry computers in our pockets.

Once you get technology into the hands of talented people, you do not know what can be created.

"If you dream it, you can do it... Always remember the whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse." -- quote by Walt Disney.

We cannot say where VR is going as we sit here today. But, it is exciting to dream about where it might go and video games are going to push the technology into the mainstream (along with porn).

ZodTheRipper1359d ago

You must be high as f*ck.

kenshiro1001359d ago

Oh look, a random Nintendo fanboy.

Why don't you ask Nintendo for new IPs instead of trolling Sony articles?

Hicken1359d ago

If only it were the Nintendo Morpheus, right? Then it'd be the next great thing in gaming, right?

RPG_Lover1359d ago

Nope. VR has no potential no matter who does it.

rainslacker1359d ago

They don't have to take over. It's not about one thing replacing the other. It's a step into more immersion, which is a brick wall that has been hit in video games for well over 20 years now.
