NVidia Unveils the Titan-Z Card, A $3,000 Graphics Juggernaut

In case you weren’t satisfied with how much your current graphics card can make a fool out of modern games, the NVidia Titan-Z has your back with an insane new product. (NVIDIA, PC, Tech)

curtis92  +   495d ago
but does it do 1080p?

Irishguy95  +   495d ago

@ Air1. If you're ever going to buy a monster like this, 600 quid more for the rest of the PC will get you everything high end. i7, 16-32Gbs ram etc. You don't need an i7 for this of course but if you're gonna cash out on a 3 grand card then why cheap out on the rest of the system?

I will never understand people who pay that much for a card but then again I am not rich. I bought a PC for 570 euro just yesterday, one that is quite a bit more powerful than the Ps4. This Titan Z is for rich people or someone who simply wants the strongest thing.

Im guessing your disagrees was because you said your pc better than ps4. Because everthing else you said was spot on! When I build my rig im doing it right! Not gimping on anything.
RBdrift  +   495d ago
im too lazy to check but i thought i read somewhere that it could pump out 5k.
Why o why  +   495d ago
Maybe people are disagreeing because you mentioned the ps4, implying its the most powerful gaming console in the world and the wii u and x1 weren't worth mentioning......my take;)

pennywhyz  +   495d ago
My PC is more powerful then 3 PS4' s without that card.
thereapersson  +   495d ago
I know you are being sarcastic, but considering this card is aimed mainly at professional graphic artists and computational brute force, I don't think most consumers will be utilizing this.
jazmac  +   495d ago
Why would graphic artists use this? They would use the nvidia quadro or the amd firepro line...this card is designed for gaming.
Sashamaz  +   495d ago
@jazmac regular gpus are cheaper and they offer most of what an artist needs to do their work, if you ask around to see what hardware 3D artists have I think you find most of them will have a normal geforce gpu, quadros are good but you'll mostly find them in a studio situation however for freelancers and some indie studios regular gpus are sufficient.
jazmac  +   495d ago
So what you're saying is that the kind of person this is targeted towards is a graphics designer and has the cash to spend on this for his freelancing work but doesn't want the superior card for the job because maybe he wants to game aswell? This is costing the same amount as you would spend on one of those quadros/firepros. Niche market much even by these top end cards standards...

Either way this card seems pointless to me as you'd get more bang for your buck with multiple titan blacks/ possibly 780ti's.....it's just like the 690 a complete waste of money unless you go sli on it, and who's really going to be using 24/36/48 GBs of vram really?

Sashamaz  +   495d ago
Actually I believe this GPU is aimed at hardware enthusiasts and it is also nvidia's way of saying we are the best but as far as gamers and 3d artists go it's very hard to justify for either oh and I have a 690 and it's the best thing I have ever had. Do I want this car? YES, but no way will I ever pay that price maybe when it is within the 1k price range I'll consider it.
Magicite  +   495d ago
air1  +   495d ago
Damn 3grand... Wouldn't you need a whole bunch of other shit to properly run that card too? Like power supply motherboard etc
xSHADOWx  +   495d ago
Of course you would.
Maybe add another £700 on top of that for CPU, RAM etc.
You're gonna wanna finish the build up with some serious Intel brute-force i.e i7 Black Edition or something. So yes, there would be more expense. :)
BakPAin  +   495d ago
If you building a Rig with this graphic card it'll probably run you $6k-$7k or more!

Someone disagrees! Its ok! I should say my budget includes monitor, mouse and keyboard, etc everything needed!

BakPAin  +   495d ago
Oh I see you building a cheap ass rig with a $3k card! Lol...
ivan510  +   495d ago
@bakpain you'll probably just spend 13k to build it properly.
thereapersson  +   495d ago
This card is for professionals in the industry and for research purposes
Eyesoftheraven  +   495d ago
No it's not. This is only an entry level workstation GPU. Only a few professional programs make use of dual GPUs for acceleration, anyway. This card is primarily for high end, high resolution multi-monitor gaming situations or single monitor 4k gaming.

A proper exclusively workstation GPU like, for example, the RED Rocket costs $5,000 or more just for one.

Professional GPUs != gaming GPUs. Different set of priorities.
mushroomwig  +   495d ago
You only need to make sure you have the right kind of PSU, something along the lines of 650+ wattage would do. Motherboard doesn't matter because they're all compatible, along with CPU and RAM.
BakPAin  +   495d ago
I dont agree! If your getting this card. You should be getting top of the line everything to go with!

Im sorry if I build a rig with a gtx 780ti im not gonna pair it with a $70 mobo, 8gb of 1333mhz ram and amd fx 6300 and put it in a $45 case...LOL, no!

I would definitely go 750+ wattage and either 80Plus gold or platinum certified!

mushroomwig  +   495d ago

Sure, if you can afford this card then you will probably buy top of the range products to go with it. All I'm saying is you don't HAVE to, since that was what air1 was asking.
incredibleMULK  +   495d ago
yep. pc is whack.

3,000 people playing cod ghost is pathetic. ps4 cod ghosts has 50,000 playing at daytime on a week day.

I'll stick with consoles, more selection, everyone has same configuration and controls. 1080p is good for now i suppose. I'll use my pc for old campaigns that are cheap on steam. When they're less than ten bucks and i want to experience them on pc. Example mafia 2, crysis 1-3, enslaved. But multiplayer console all the way! Until they get the online more polished on pc no way, cant talk to nobody, too many cheaters, mouse/keyboard dorks and their 10" screen, but but its 4,000p. who cares nerds.

I find it ironic when a person posting on a videogame news site calls
others nerds.
I find it hilarious when they don't even know what they are talking about.

That is a lot of money.
Fantangoooo  +   495d ago
too much, but hey, its the Lamborghini, of cards now and it wouldnt make sense not to slap on a stupid price. ... But 3k thoughhhh... jesus.. you gotta have a 7k to 10k rig to make it not stand out so much.
pennywhyz  +   495d ago
Sure is but at least some have the luxury of having it to upgrade.Consoles are stuck with there outdated hardware for 6 years.
Eonjay  +   495d ago
Sure, but just being able to spend $400 to update to a newer console is a luxury to others.

dodgefate  +   495d ago
The item it self is NICE!! but they need to fire who ever told them to say it is for gaming lol
hennessey86  +   495d ago
that card is for super rich people, to get the most out of it you would need a 4k screen which cost a bomb. I have just bought a GTX 780 and that card is perfectly fine for gaming at 1080p 60fps
FlyingFoxy  +   495d ago
I'd rather buy the new upcoming Asus 1440p, 120hz with G-sync screen and buy 2 cheaper 780's and have them in Sli. Much nicer than a 4k screen with 60hz.

4k is just not playable, runs like ass and 1440p is more than good enough anyways. Like 1080p is still good today.
#4.2.1 (Edited 495d ago ) | Agree(4) | Disagree(3) | Report
BakPAin  +   495d ago
@Fly Fox,

One gtx 780ti can do it for you. Check out benchmarks on YT! Runs tons of newer games at 2650x1600p Ultra with incredible framerates. It would power your Gsync 1440p monitor and games no problems!

You know you don't need to go out and throw down $3,000 for this, right? You don't need a $3,000 card to game on PC.

Although this does discourage me a bit when I see something that I can never have. I feel like a poor orphan watching the rich kids through the window as they play with their new and expensive toys.

that's like saying you're not a driver because there are Ferrari's.
ExCest  +   495d ago
This is why I'm not a driver.
pennywhyz  +   495d ago
Why because you ha ve the options to upgrade in stead of having consoles that are outdated at launch.I feel like I'm talkin g to 15 yr old kids on this site.they spend a lousy $400 and think what they have.I did 1080p almost 10 yrs ago @150 fps on most games maxed.
Belasco  +   495d ago
Wish I had the $$ to have these things in my rig, regardless if they are workstation gpu's or not.

12gb of VRAM... MY GOD O.o
FlyingFoxy  +   495d ago
This is a card for developers like some others have said, much like if you look up those Fire GL cards or whatever they're called.

Basically like the Titan, not really meant for gamers.. if you buy it for games it's a huge waste.

Not to mention you'd get similar performance by just buying 2 780's and putting them in Sli or 2 r9 290's in Xfire. Much cheaper too.

TheTowelBoy  +   495d ago
If I could I would. 10/10 graphics, whore me out now.
jazmac  +   495d ago
Why are people saying this is for workstation/graphics designers? I thought that's what the quadro/firepro graphics cards were for which you pay roughly the same amount of cash and it's going to be a lot better for that purpose.

This to me seems clearly a gaming card and for the people who have the dosh to fork out for the best.
OutcastMosquito  +   495d ago
$3,000 ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME?! I bet it doesn't even cost a quarter of that to produce them!!
Ipunchbabiesforfun  +   495d ago
well the 4gb titans are $1000 so double that and add 4 gigs of GDDR5
Agent_hitman  +   495d ago
This graphics card is ideal for rich people, but for poor people that can't afford $3000 video card, I suggest that they should stick on Radeon Rseries or 7000 series budget GPU with GDDR5 memory module that can run all games on at least 720-1080p.

This videocard is useless if you would just use this for Gaming..
kicker2222  +   495d ago
This is old news they announced it yesterday.
ExCest  +   495d ago
Even if I were rich I probably wouldn't buy this.
i8urCAKE  +   495d ago
i could buy a used BMW for that amount of money.. just saying
The_Truth_24_7  +   494d ago
Lol. PCs will cost $6k to build.
frostypants  +   494d ago
This is a novelty. No one expects this to go mainstream nor will developers expect you to have one.
kingPoS  +   493d ago
For that price that card had better be capable of churning out Pixar quality rendering.
