"Ask anyone which of the Final Fantasy X games is superior to the other, and nine times out of ten X will be chosen over X-2. Ask fervent Final Fantasy X fans if they even like the sequel, and you’ll receive a wide range of reactions, many bordering between distaste and outright rage.
I’m not one of those fans.
In fact, I think the game is a great exploration of various themes and ideas that started in X, and host to some of the most intense and engaging gameplay the series has ever had. While I won’t say the game is superior to its predecessor, I do think it’s worthy of being its companion, and I’m here to make the case for why X-2 deserves a little more gamer love."
Take it down the memory lane with this ultimate list of the best PlayStation 2 games of all time. Just the best of the best right here.
It's so disappointing that to this day, I have not seen a game match what BLACK offers in an FPS.
The greatest console of all time !!!!
The last console from when gaming was pure, games didn't take 5 years to release, no online only, no half finished games, no mtx.
Ps2 was just banger after banger after banger.
It will always be my favourite.
It’s been 20+ years since the time that gave us Mulholland Drive and “Bootylicious”, meaning this look at the best games of 2001 is going to make some of you feel very old very quickly.
As a complete duology, Final Fantasy X and X-2 just do not need a sequel. These games provided us with satisfying conclusions to the characters' journeys and meaningfully wrapped up their arcs. And after the terrible way -Will- presented its narrative, feeling more like an attempt to capitalize on the previous game's success than a well-crafted and meaningful sequel, that's all the more reason to just let FFX be what it already is. Any further attempts to force a sequel will only diminish the legacy and impact of Final Fantasy X and X-2.
If they do another one, I'd really like to see more of a focus on the connection to FF VII. Since it was confirmed that they take place in the same world. Let's just keep the pop star element out of it for the next one... I really enjoyed X-2 as a game, but man that decision for Yuna and Rikku's character direction wasn't the right choice.
technically, they already do. in form of a novel and audio thing.
but .. i dunno. ive always wanted a prequel with the three guys.
not sure what else there is to tell about Spira.
Sorry for the spoiler if true
Is it true if you complete x2 100 percent tides comes back in some way. I never 100 percented it.
I agree with the article. Even though FFX-2 is far from being as good as X, it certainly gets more hate than it deserves. For me the biggest problem in this game is the high encounter rate. Once I got into two battles while dropping from a ledge.
FFX-2 did a lot of things right and better than FFX such as the battle system, it is very fast. It also doesn't take itself too seriously like FFX does.
It was good idea to make X-2 I rather have 2 games remastered in hd than only one for the same price
X-2 had a good fast combat but unfortunately I didn't finished it as my PS2 broke
Now will finish it on vita
The battle system was stellar in FF X-2, the ability to change jobs on the fly added a lot of dimensions to battles. The characters were likable & visiting Spira again is always nice to do, it was a vibrant world.
The achilles heel for the game is that it had a terrible story or should i say a badly written story. The premise was interesting but the execution of it was poorly done.
It gets the flack it does cause the direction of it was so totally out in left field from traditional Final Fantasy games. The 'Charlie's Angels' aspect detracted a lot of the hardcore fans cause it felt silly & unnecessary. If you look past the silliness there is a solid game underneath.
