Games in Asia: "It’s probably the most famous RPG franchise of all time: Final Fantasy. But when you start talking about which one is the best, emotions run high. Here are our favorite games in the series."
Final Fantasy VI, story wise it easily outclasses any other Final Fantasy.
FFVI had a great story and it's my favorite classic sprite based FF. My top three would be the PSOne main series games (FF VII, VIII and IX). But for favorite I have to go with FFVIII. It has my favorite plot from all FF games.
FF6 this is the one that needs to be remade
glad to see some oldschool real FF fans. FF6 is also my favorite. Favorite game in a series is very subjective. Nostalgia plays a big role in it but we can all for sure salute Squaresoft for making us dream and remember all those amazing episodes. I remember buying it once more for PS1 with the FFX demo disc included. amazing times!!
hope that is not a typo. VIII is also my favourite FF.
i loved VIII's story and ending but that draw system... I missed a summon because I did not draw from a boss! #%#@%@#%@#%@#%@. FFVI was great - but it hasn't aged well (in my opnion). I would love a 3d version of that game. Speaking of which I'd really love a 3d remake of Phantasy Star 1-4 and anything Shining Force.
VIII was one of the worst FF games, i invested 200+ hours in the game; proof of omega, all the cards and even shocobo world. I maxed everything and then some. some of the worst character development, boring cast, uninteresting story, out of blue final boss with dumb and dumber twist Broken gameplay, the absorb and juction system pretty much fucked up the balance later rebdering the use of magic and summons irrelevant. And, Eden, the worst scrambled rainbow depiction ever visualized.
Another vote for VI here, the sheer scope of the game alongside 20 (was it 20 lol, I can't remember) playable characters is something no other FF has managed since. @NewMonday There's a recent iOS/Android release with re-designed sprites.
There wasn't really anything special about VI's story IMO, at least until halfway through after the world gets destroyed. Before then it was just the generic Empire vs Rebels plot.
I absolutely loved FF9. It did everything so right and managed to capture my attention for whole summer. But basically every FF from 4 to 12 was great.
FFX for me
X for me as well
VIII XII X VI IV In that order
Final Fantasy 8 and 9 for me. I also liked the battle system of ff 12 apart from its story.
battle systm was miles ahead of everything released so far. I've spent 2-300+ hrs glitching/tricking system into giving me rare iem. trying to do a x99 item for every weapon/item
FF8, 9 and 10 for me I wasn't able to finish 9, the disc was too scratched when I had the PS1 version, never went back to it, always meant to
U need to finish that gem! I love the Tettra master card game
its all personal preference depending on how you experienced the game at the time of your first play through for me its 8, I sent hours with my friend playing it before I bought the game myself.
That sounds about right. Most who say FF7 or anything higher probably haven't played any of the pre-PSX. Nothing wrong with that, its just personal experience.
My most favorite FF is: Final Fantasy 7 Next is: Final Fantasy 8, Final Fantasy 10.
No particular order: Tactics - War of the Lions IV VI VII IX X But if i must choose one than i choose Tactics
i suck at tactics games. just dont understand it at all... may give it another try
The basic gameplay of Tactics still the same like classic FF. So i'll suggest you give it another try, but take it slowly and think carefully what kind of party you want to make. Is it full of knights, monks, & lancers (dragoon) that focused on closed range combat? Is it full of magician / summoners and archers that focused on long range combat? Or it's a mix of those two? After you decide what party you want to make, than you can think what strategies you can use in combat. Imho, Tactics had one of the best gameplay in FF history. It's like playing chess. Plenty of options to beat the enemies.
Trick in game is to gain experience from basically doing assist moves that gain each character xp and job points. %20 of what job experience is learned is shared to entire team. So whatever an individual unit learns %20 of what it learned also affects every other unit regardless if u used them or not
It's hard to choose. Kingdom Hearts took what I loved about Final Fantasy and added a battle system I loved even more. That's why I think FF XV will be my new favorites.
Final Fantasy IX Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy VIII Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VI
8, it got me to play the rest
VII VI IX IV XII VIII and X are among my least favourites. They both somewhat signaled the road that Square is on now.
About as close to perfection as a video game can get.
FFIX here. Must admit that gameplay wise, Lightning Returns is a blast.
I almost feel like it's blasphemous to enjoy a Final Fantasy sequel game, but I too enjoy the gameplay~ Too bad it didn't get a little bit more polish in the looks department though.
FFIX, finished it so many times that I can't go back to it anymore.
For me it's a tie between VI, IX, and XII. Incidentally, all three of these games were directed by the same man.
Final Fantasy 13
