Cube Tactics Review - Nintendo Enthusiast

"It is hard to know what to expect when walking into a cheap, downloadable game. It could be a huge surprise, nailing every element and being easily on par with titles up to ten times as expensive, or it could be an absolute piece of garbage that does not deserve even a five-dollar price tag. Cube Tactics comes close to being both, but ends up being neither."

ChristCenteredGamer Cube Tactics review

Cube Tactics is a fast-paced real time strategy game where you must protect your core while destroying your opponent’s. The randomly generated resources are shared amongst the players so you have to be quick when selecting cubes and unit bases. You can sculpt and build up the terrain to make getting to your core more challenging.

Haha!!!! That Wii U was really really sexy......:o

Just bought a Wii U. Liking it a lot so far.

For me it is a mostly Nintendo/Mario console, but I'm cool with that. It's kind of the reason I bought it.

I have my 3DS, Vita & PC for most everything else. ( obviously missing a few console games)

Clicked for the pretty chick. Anyway, Wii U can still be a worth while system in the long run if Nintendo gets their act together. In a Gamecubeesque sort of way at least. Just release some good games....
Unity on the 3DS will be great because the more platforms I can reach the better.

HighResHero3686d ago (Edited 3686d ago )

I know, but I feel they will need to return to peak form in order to really make the Wii U special. It should read "release some (more) good games".

Benjaminkno3685d ago (Edited 3685d ago )

I would recommend W101, Zombiu, Pikmin3, scribblenauts, MonHunt3, and DKC.

Activision did a fabulous job on COD too. They renewed my faith in the franchise on WiiU even though it isn't selling.

You could look into some of the Wii games you might've missed, like Red Steel 2, Zack and Wiki, Xenoblade, MetPrime3... you shouldn't miss any of those games. metacritic has a decent list.

There's a sh!t ton of good games on Wii if you know how to look for them. And most of them are under 20 bucks.

HighResHero3685d ago

Thank you for the suggestions. I will definitely remember to pick up Xenoblade. Some of the others are on my list as well.

MNGamer-N3685d ago

I played Xenoblade for over 100 hours. Amazing title. It's hard to play through a game that long, but when you do... you know it's good.

Looks like the Wii u is going to have a big library of Indie games!!! im okay with that.

SirNintend03686d ago

Indies are the new third party.

Ck1x3686d ago

Indies would really be the new 3rd party if Nintendo started up that funding grant for small studios like they had during the GC era. It's not that WiiU doesn't have good games, it just needs a better variety of good games.

N4g_null3685d ago

The variety is coming they are using the game pad also. Good stuff on the way. Slow going but it's on the way.

Benjaminkno3685d ago

I'll take Indies over third party every time

What everyone should expect is Nintendo at E3 to reveal games that ate pretty close to coming out. The difference between them and the other big 2 is they don't start to talk about their games until their close to release. Also I find it incredible that they show a game 25% complete and were like this looks like garbage then they hit us with a masterpiece.

Ck1x3686d ago

I hear you, but I also think that it's more of a blessing and a curse with how secretive they are. Because in the face of the other companies announcing and showing new things. It seems like Nintendo really isn't working on much, even though that's not the case. Nintendo needs to get better at promoting and hyping their games. Yes MK8 will sell itself and SmashBros will sell itself, but Bayonetta 2, X and SMTXFE need a heavy promotional push to get a larger interest.

Realplaya3686d ago

You have a point. That's the worst part and I think the only reason they have showed footage from games so far is due to getting ripped online.

Review: Cube Tactics (Pure Nintendo)

Pure Nintendo: "Cube Tactics was a download I really wanted to like. It looked promising, and I was excited for its release. It has some good ideas and strong points (the music in particular!) but overall it falls short. For every minute that thrilled me (and a few of the single player levels did) there were three times as many that infuriated. Some may be able to overlook its questionable control, lack of strategic depth, and uneven AI, but they affected my enjoyment greatly. I can’t really recommend it even for multiplayer, due to limited players online (although I’m hopeful it’ll pick up), the lag, and no local multiplayer support. The best tactic I can recommend is passing on this below average game and avoiding frustration."
