"Nintendo of UK has sent out a new press release today once again reminding Nintendo players of the fact that once May 20th rolls around, online play on most Nintendo DS and Wii games will be shut off. Previously, Nintendo already announced that this would affect titles like Pokemon and Mario Kart, but today the company reiterated that this internet shut-off would also affect non-multiplayer games, such as Professor Layton and Animal Crossing, which may have had downloadable content" -- Nintendo Enthusiast.

It is ONLY FOR Nintendo DS Family and Wii.
Not Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
Good, maybe now the holdouts will move on to Wii U. Wii U is a great console.
Who cares Playing the Wii online sucks anyway
The Wii did rock, but Wii U is the way to go now. It costs Nintendo resources to support the Wii and sales as well. My company also has to support "legacy" products at considerable cost and resources, as well as sales, so I completely understand.
