Walmart to Introduce New Game Trade-In Program

Walmart will soon introduce a new game trade-in program in the coming week for gamers to trade-in anything their heart desires in exchange for anything in the store.

Yeah, with Best Buy and GameStop doing this already, Walmart has always tried to be the big dog in the Electronics department. We'll see how this goes, but now that it's in, I don't expect it to go away.

The cellphone trade in they're doing isn't doing well. They only offer $40 credit for a almost new condition iPhone 5s 16g Gold to your next upgrade or add a line. The games trade in value will be just as bad.

GameStop isn't a "local joint." LOL. To be honest, I don't mind the Walmart thing, as long as the consumer wins. I want to see an escalation of trade-in value. That would be awesome!

Can't see Walmart offering anything of value on any games you try and trade in.

Probably give you a $1 for Borderlands 2 or some other stupid amount.

This is the second time Walmart has done this - they had a trade-in programs a few years ago but ditched it after about 18 months - wonder why they're trying again?

Their old trade-in program was done by the same company, but rather by vending machine, where Walmart took a different direction for quality control - a human. The program is now relaunching.

while i dont think i can see walmart offering sensable trade values in comparison to gamestop or best buy, i would be willing to try it out at least once just to check it out.
Walmart obviously cant stand the fact that millions of gamers have to trade in games to fund purchases. this is probably another cluttered attempt to cash in just like their first trade program.

As someone who works at a Walmart store full-time, this is completely viable for Walmart to offer a good trade-in value. What you'll find when you try to trade-in is that Walmart is using this third-party company and since that company will have to pay Walmart, they will undervalue your games. The trick is, however, that the company Walmart uses to outsource the valuation is actually pretty universal across the board.
