Despite earlier claims that Xbox One controllers would be incompatible with Windows PC, Microsoft's director of product management Albert Penello confirmed the controllers will work with Windows PC games.
Wait if you have to create NEW DRIVERS... for your controller to work and be "compatible" to the PC then your controller ISN'T COMPATIBLE... the eff?? then he said "when they are available.." ok soooo when you fix your sh** Microsoft that's WHEN it's compatible don't say "they are" when they aren't at the present moment in life. SMH, lucky I love my Windows 7 if it weren't for this OS and Visual Studio i'd hope they crash n burn and dissolve.
They are twisting his words. He never said they ARE compatible, he said they will be. He was addressing the conspiracy theory that MS had no plans to release drivers because they would rather folks have to buy another controller for use with their PC.
@Above please the full article first, then comment!
He never said they were currently compatible..whats all the complaining about? ""When the drivers become available, they will work with the existing controllers. There is no plan to do a new, separate controller that only works on Windows. It will be the same as it is on Xbox 360 - the Xbox One controller you have today will work." People should pls read and understand stuff before going all bazooka...
But if you take the time to actually read you might not get your comment first. Dilemma.
If MS want some more money, they should put out the drivers, ASAP. I think installing a PS4 controller is supposedly much easier than a PS3 controller. Sony should have had drivers ready too, and if they do now, I stand corrected here. I want both controllers for PC. tbh.
Then what rumor? They told us a long time ago that drivers were coming.
All anyone needs to know, its not compatible now but it will be in the future and no new hardware will be needed. existing will work: "This is 100% wrong," Penello wrote. "When the drivers become available, they will work with the existing controllers. There is no plan to do a new, separate controller that only works on Windows. It will be the same as it is on Xbox 360 - the Xbox One controller you have today will work.
Better luck next time
Good god, hate this guy, was hoping he would stay out of PR
PR? "Microsoft's director of product management " too much to even read the description huh? Hate him so much yet you: see the article see his picture prior to see the title prior to click on it anyway scroll down think of a comment to type type it hit add reply all this energy toward someone you hate? lmfao
Youre right this guy is so terrible he doesnt even deserve our attention, I will avoid articles with him from now on. And what I meant was that I think he is a terrible PR person
They should just release the wireless dongle/hub to sync our controllers to. The windows 360 wireless unit is a beaut. Sync up to 4 controllers to the hub.
Insiders were wrong!!! What a shock? The horror? I won't be able to eat for days, my life will come to a complete halt. There will be mass rioting and public stonings. The apocalypse is here people! The Mayans missed the timeline by a smidge.
Hope it will just connect WiFi direct and not need a special dongle.
If a driver doesn't exist to make it functional, it is a bit of a stretch to call it compatible. It would be more accurate to say that it will "become compatible" in the future. The headline reads "Xbox One controllers are compatible with PC..." *goes and plugs in Xbox One controller* ....doesn't work. This definition is so broad, technically everything with a USB port is compatible with PC given that a driver can be written to make it compatible at some unspecified point in time. By this definition even the PS3 controller is "compatible" with PC.
The problem is a poor headline from polygon, not an innaccurate comment. The Neogaf insider claimed MS had no intention of releasing drivers, suggesting MS saw it more profitable to only sell a PC exclusive version of the controller. Panello responded by saying they will release drivers. He never said the controller IS currently compatible, just that it will be in the future.
Agreed. Polygon did a number on that headline. The inside never claimed that PC compatibility was impossible. On a side note, reports that modders, hackers and devs have made or released their own drivers probably exacerbated the story. There is no reason Microsoft can't release a driver if they want to.
Microsoft DOES want to release drivers. But unlike those hackers, modders, and devs, Microsoft has the responsibility to make sure the drivers work flawlessly, across all titles and several supported windows platforms. For this reason, you see unofficial releases beat official releases to market all the time. It's not about pushing the xb1. It's about Quality Assurance.
Oh look another Xbox negative rumor debunked. They always said they will release drivers.
I have never heard of this rumor. It would be nice if it was compatible out of the box. I think the reason it isn't is because they want people to play on Xbox One (obviously)
Debunked? They already told us that the drivers were coming eventually.
the coolest kids in town hate on microsoft and that makes it radical dude.
Naw....really who would of thought. A Microsoft controller not working with a Microsoft OS before proper drivers.
they'd better be
