ha well look at that MS didn't say they made the most money.... also wasn't there an article recently saying that the X1 was doing worse compared to the 360 launch or am i remembering incorrectly?

Kiwi661653d ago

xb1 has done better than xb360 launch so yes you are incorrect

4Sh0w1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Well yes and no, many sites have been running with click bait headlines that X1 sales were poor due to the lower sales than ps4 in Jan, admittedly I think it was expected to be lower than ps4 but there was a bigger gap than expected for Jan, but again as I said all along its only 1 month and it was still selling better than 360 totals in the same timeframe. Now the monthly sales gap for US are closer so again like I said a bunch of hit seeking sites were jumping the gun, that's all.

MysticStrummer1653d ago

XB1 is selling better than a console that launched very late against the juggernaut PS2 (XBox), and a console that had early supply problems (360).

malokevi1653d ago

And without a Halo title there to propagate sales, I'd say they are doing great.

ABizzel11652d ago

Actually the XBO only launched better than the 360, with it's nearly 3 million consoles for it's launch year (launch date - December 31st). However, for Year 1 it's selling pretty much neck and neck with the 360, and might be a bit ahead or behind depending on the success and sales of TitanFall for the console.

You are definitely remembering incorrectly.

Xbox 360 launched and sold around 350k in November while the Xbox One had 1M+. End of 2006 Xbox 360 was roughly around 5 Million sold.

BitbyDeath1653d ago

No 360 sold 10.4 million by end of 2006.
Here's a link -

JBSleek1653d ago

"No 360 sold 10.4 million by end of 2006."

Shipped.

BitbyDeath1653d ago

True enough, either way it should only be about 1 million sitting in the channel.

So roughly 9.4?

thorstein1653d ago

No you are correct. These numbers are for the US only and honestly, they are being a bit dishonest by adding exclusives like Garden Warfare and Fable Ann.

That would be like saying: Sony top titles in the generation eight console game title list in the U.S. include: Killzone Shadowfall, Knack, and Fifa 14 (thrown in to make the others look more legit.)

4Sh0w1653d ago

1st, we all know NPD numbers are just for US

2nd:
"they are being a bit dishonest by adding exclusives like Garden Warfare and Fable Ann."

How are they being dishonest they completely explained and listed seperately each platform the X1 and 360 versions of games in the Top 10/seventh and eight gen console platforms????

Games2041653d ago

I wonder why the Xbox 360 is still doing better still

Axios21653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Congrats

It's funny how so many MINDLESS doom and gloom articles show up here.

X1 is more than doubling 360 sales and ahead of all previous gen PS consoles...and it's just in 13 countries.

360 sold in 41 countries and 40% of sales were outside North America

@Orange ok, if you call 35m sales outside North America "not much"

OrangePowerz1653d ago

There is little to get from the countries they didn't release in. They launched in their main markets it won't make much of a difference if they launch in Sweden or other similar countries.

christocolus1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

But releasing in more markets would add to the numbers globally. Ms launched the 360 worldwide and it helped their numbers,if they decided to launch the xbx one in 20 more markets( bringing it to 33 countries) and sell an average of 5k to 20k at launch in each of those countries that would be 100k to 400k more units..its still something.

Ontopic: im really happy with the february numbers. Im glad the console is still doing really well. kinect sports and project spark should help continue the trend until D4, QB and sunset overdrive are released.

OrangePowerz1653d ago

I wonder what the Titanfall sales are. Given that EA didn't come out with a press release boasting that they sold X amount of copies the first 24 hours they might be lower then expected.

No_Limit1653d ago

It is doing fine, Orangepowerz,

It is currently number one of the best selling list on the Three major game resellers. Don't worry man, your stock with EA should go up soon. :)

thorstein1653d ago

That shows the PS4 and PS Store Gift Cards outselling the XBone Titanfall on Amazon.

Best seller on Gamestop followed by PC and then Infamous, Dark Souls PS3, and Ratchet and Clank.

Then Best Buy selling it tops with bundle 2nd and PS4 third.

theWB271653d ago

Or it could be because it hasn't launched on a system with an install base of 80+ million...those systems that drove alot of those "sold in 24 hours" boasts.

All those games with that accomplishment released on PS360 hardware...calm down Orange.

OrangePowerz1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

The install base doesn't matter. There is always something to celebrate if it's a big success like "best selling X1 game" or "highest selling next gen game" or something. The small install base didn't stop Activision from sending out a press release about CoD being the best selling PS4 game.

These companies use any opportunity they get to trump their own horn.

theWB271653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Activision made that announcement amid the hype and excitement with the next gen consoles and they were also going up against BF. So it's not surprising they did this.

Activision also announced it had sales of 1b dollars in 24 hours. That was to retailers and not consumers. They did this because GTA5 had just set the record of 800million sold THROUGH to consumers. Activision just moved the goalpost to sound like things were/are rosy.

So since TF just released on PC/X1...one platform is digital(pc) and the other(X1) pushes digital more...retail MIGHT not be good enough to tout or they could be waiting on the 360 release figures for both. Retail is down overall for the industry right now.

So just because they haven't released numbers doesn't mean things are worse..it could be because retail alone isn't enough to warrant a press release.

OrangePowerz1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

They don't have to rely on retail only numbers they have the exact sales numbers for digital. It would be also in the best interest for MS to talk about how well the game is doing on the X1. If a game with that much hype doesn't get a press release shortly after the launch on how well it is doing it's not doing as well as the publisher would have expected. Even Activision had to spin their numbers to make a positive statement.

With EA making the deal with MS their shareholders will want to see results and that it was the right choice for the company. That there wasn't any kind of press release yet doesn't shine the brightest light on it. You would expect the game to be at least the fastest selling X1 game or something that is positive that warrent a press release.

Retail is down because of the games that are released currently compared to previous years. When people say year over year the sales for quarter XYZ for games are down they never look at the games that are released the last year.

How often do we get digital numbers? Almost NEVER. So I don't know why you're expecting something here. It isn't in Micro's best interest to release numbers. It's in YOUR best interest so that YOU can make a comment about sales. Activision had to spin numbers because COD IS their cash cow and it was directly competing with BF on every platform. Titanfall isn't.

Shareholders don't get their information through press releases. Two days of sales, plus it not releasing on a platform with 80+ million owners, doesn't paint ANY kind of picture of what TF will do over its lifetime.

http://venturebeat.com/2013...
Retail sales are down because digital is picking up FAST. Why would goalposts be moved to compensate for games released? That's not how it works.

YOU think a press release should be put out because YOU want to know what its selling. Nothing you're saying is proving otherwise. Since YOU don't know the numbers, YOU are ASSuming things are bad when YOU have NO idea if it is or not.
