Nintendo's QOL platform is their most important announcement in decades: it will open profitable doors to them, and produce many improvements to our lives.
As much as I like Nintendo I'm just not sure about all this... it's like they're determined to keep dancing around core gaming with new "distractions" each time.
Hey, if it works, it's fun, and and appropriately priced. People would buy it. I like Nintendo's diverse culture. Consumers get big budget games, mid-budget games, small budget games, and even good non-game applications rather than just constantly big-budget games. If Nintendo can capitalize on other things without having their core games department suffer, I'm all for it. In the end, their products are usually appealing (or Nintendo wouldn't be where they are right now).
Yeah, I know right. Heres some more ideas: Sony should close its movie studio, music business... maybe they should also stop making consumer electronics too. I think its somehow interfering with their gaming side of the business. Oh, and Microsoft should just stop making tablets and Windows.
Here's something you're either missing or ignoring; Their QOL platform WILL BE SEPARATE FROM THEIR GAMING BUSINESS. So this doesn't have any effect on core gamers at all.
That's what I meant by distractions.
It's not going to be a distraction to core gamers; it's not focused on them. They'll be too busy focusing on the games and improvements to the Wii U in the coming months and few years to care about the QOL platform.
