MP1st - SOF Studios sheds some light on its vision for H-Hour’s beta and shares a few tidbits of what to expect from the game.
Good, unlike some companies with their games **cough**Battlefield**cough**
anyone know when the beta starts? any date yet?
after 10 months of development, which really just started
i just know ill pay anything to get that on my new ps4. its updating now. can't wait.
Battlefield did nothing wrong . . . . . . . . /s
Curious to see how this game turns out, but I won't lie i'm a bit underwhelmed with it so far...
weve only seen pre alpha builds so far I beleive.
I know that's why I'm curious to see what it turns out like, but what they've released so far IMO aren't very promising.
@ BlackHavoc The game is still a year out, if not more. When it comes to a game like this which is independently produced through crowd-funding, it's not going to have the same budget or development cycle of a typical AAA shooter. They have to show their backers some of the work in progress, even if it's raw and unpolished. When a game has a larger budget, they can show a more complete game, earlier, because they have more people working on it. Not the case here.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one. Watched the PMN mine video and was like... "Is that it?"
If they updated the graphics to maybe Socom 4 than changed character models and animations it would be amazing. Still getting it regardless
Honestly, it's only just started development but I'd rather them put gameplay way ahead of graphics. I don't mind if they aren't mind blowing or anything top notch, just as logn as it's liek Socom 2 I am fine
I think you have to understand what this game is all about. it is for SOCOM fans. SOCOM was never about graphics. This game has a very small budget and development team. Expect PS2 level graphics in HD, I will still buy it.
Good to know thanks. But if it has ps2 graphics I'll have to pass, I mean we've come so far in gaming that a great game play experience should not come at the price of poor graphics. But I know they have a small team, not trashing the game just stating I think I'll pass.
BlakHavoc, not to be rude or imply anything but I think this game is simply not for you. I am going to guess that you never played SOCOM 1 or 2? This game is meant for a niche market. It's not intended to compete with Battlefield or CoD or any other popular shooter. This one is for the fans of the old SOCOM games and as one of that group, I have to say I like what I see in this game. While I wish the developer the absolute best I think the dev team knows that this is not going to be breaking any sales records. Most gamers who never played the originals are not going to have a feel for the game and won't like it. So it's not going to be a blockbuster and if reducing the development time and money that is spent on things like graphics and effects means that this game actually comes to market with the old SOCOM gameplay and feel, I'll be very happy to give them my $60 for it. If you are looking for something flashy with Micheal Bay style effects and story, you probably need to look somewhere else. If you want a game with solid, proven SOCOM style gameplay without all the pansy aimbot, lead you around by the nose crap today's games are full of, I think this will be a good risk. Things may change as the game progresses before release but so far, I'm impressed all to hell that it's even being made and I like what I've seen to this point.
We got new videos pretty recently. I don't think they'll add more for awhile. The mechanics are coming together nicely. Hit detection and aiming are almost perfect right now. They're working on environments and animations, I believe.
great to see this isn't going to be another duke nukem forever, they seem to be working hard on this.
This game will consume my PS4 when it comes out!! lol
I know, I am so hyped about this. Sony should take note from this, considering that they own Socom and the last one was pretty lackluster, I am hoping if this does well Sony will just rework something with the series.
So stoked for this game. Glad to be an active member of the community and a part of the guaranteed access to the beta program. The SOCOM we all wanted is almost here. Waited about 10 years might as well wait another 12 months :)
