Call of Duty: Ghosts has come under a lot of fire for many reasons and I understand why. The game itself feels less like any other Call of Duty I've played, I find it disappointing- Writes Mark Kerry
Spot on about campaign mode. It's all so thunderingly dull. I mean, if it's your first COD game, it probably seems amazing but if you've played any of the previous 5 titles it's just more of the exact same.
the thing thats wrong with ALL CoD games is the thing wrong with Titanfall... too much camping... now you camp on rooftops...
Grew up playing counter strike. By comparison, camping doesn't exist in CoD. You learn the spots and check them.
Hardly ever see camping in Titanfall. The roofs are just the safest places to be with titans walking around. Also, the game has jet packs and wall running/jump combos. It's basically leading you to higher elevation. A lot of people still have that generic FPS mentality and I did too until multiple matches of titanfall and I understood to be multi tiered from roof to streets.
I remember first playing CoD Modern warfare and sitting there with my mouth open "this is gaming heaven!" I was squealing. Everything just hit my gaming G-spot and made me squeal. Now CoD Ghosts actually sits, unopened. The collective making it under the Infinity Ward aren't creators, they're told what to do, the result is a paint by numbers copy of a masterpiece.
You mention it's a paint by numbers however you just said your copy sits unopened. If it was so bad, why did you even get it?
Because MW3 was made by most of the same collective and it was clear where it was headed.
COD will always be the same, short and boring story mode, campers online which can't be helped of course, boring kill streaks, unbalanced guns and ridiculous spawning. Let's hope when the next one comes out it will be different.
That's the problem, we keep saying 'lets hope next years is better' Then it comes along and it's the same problems. I bought MW1 for £40 after trading in Spider-man 3 for a £10 (so it was listed as £50) and it was money well spent. Great cinematic SP and a truly balanced MP. From then on I've only bought at significantly discounted rated. Sainsburys usually sell at £25 (although recent years requires other purchases). I still love the zombies mode and extinction this year is decent, so I know I'll get my monies worth.
Yeah as i said in the peice, i don't hate the game and as Ugly Geezer rightly said above, "the collective under the name inifinty ward aren't creators". They aren't even the same Infinity Ward behind the MW series. Theyre a bunchof rip-off's . Respawn are the original talent that was infinity ward and this game really shows it.
Yeah i don't think anyone hates COD really just it's a frustrating game but yeah i agree with what your saying
Heres for hoping that with 3 studios now working on CoD titles that we may actually get a good, well-rounded game. I personally enjoyed MW3 probably as much as the other MW games, so I'm excited to see what Sledgehammer can do.
Can't really argue about the recycled cut scene's, recycling content is something IW were guilty of long before key members left so I'd say it was endemic at that studio and not something exclusive to Ghosts. The spawn issue is also a nuisance but the rest of the article is just down to playing preference of run and gun vs slower pace. Camping has happened in every Call of Duty game right from the beginning but that's just player choice, nothing wrong with either style of play. I personally hate how over the top kill streak perks have become. I'd rather see Call of Duty go back to its roots and either ditch or heavily scale back the kill streak perks and make the game more about the guns and gun battles. I have Titanfall pre-ordered for the PC and I played the beta and enjoyed it but I just don't see it being as revolutionary as some make out and I think heavy auto-aim and shooting AI will soon become tiresome. Some may switch over to Titanfall but I don't think the grass is greener on the other side and while I'm sure I'll enjoy it I don't think it will steal a lot of my gaming time and those who switch may well also switch back to CoD or Battlefield.
Wow! Another post where all they do is complain! These never get old.
Its an opinion post. And in my opinion the bad far outweighs the good. But i still play it because i find enjoyment amongst the multiple niggling issues which quite frankly shouldn't be occurring this far in to a franchises life.
Probably the worst CoD since MW3 and really a sign that 3arch has taken over as lead dev for the franchise. I didn't bother with the sp as I'm so sick of following a dude and waiting for him to open doors for me while I do all the other s*** like ordering air strikes and setting charges. I can't open a door but I have to do all this other grunt work? The multiplayer is pure crap and sports some of the worst maps in the franchise. Black Ops had nice tight maps built 6v6 whereas ghosts has unbelievably large maps with multiple levels and every building can be entered for setting up a campsite. I hated Aftermath in Black Ops 2 as it was just too big and cluttered, but every map in Ghosts is like aftermath but twice as big. And then there's the more subtle changes to the hud and perks and all of that is terrible with the exception of having your score displayed at all times. So you have these huge maps and you've dumbed down the minimap so you no longer can see where the battle is. In the previous CoD, you just need to see where your teammates are facing to know where the battle is. In Ghosts...well f*** you...nope. Add that to the horrific spawning in the Ghosts. I've never been dropped in front of a gun as many times as I have in Ghosts. How are the maps so huge but I still manage to spawn near the enemy? So I honestly dislike Black Ops 2 because of all the ridiculous s*** like quickscoping and 360 no scoping and dropshots (which is missing a frame of animation which makes a you unkillable for a second) but despite all that, it's miles better than Ghosts because it still has the spirit of CoD 4 and everything you enjoy (and hate) about the franchise.
I can't count how many times I've spawned in front of the enemy and got killed.
For me the only thing that spoils the COD games is the other players as they are just so damned good these day. I could always hold my own on Free For All, but now I just get trounced! Getting old sucks!
They're dudebro CoD addicts hopped up on Adderall. Of course they're hard to kill
I just want it set in WW2, then I might pick it up again.
The game has the worst respawn points of any game I've played https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Just curious to know what others think... In every FPS game, done spawns are going to be bad, but Ghosts has taken it to a whole entirely new level. I have NEVER, in my life of gaming, spawned in front of an enemy, not just once, twice or even three times in a row on this POS, but for the first time ever, I see myself TWICE in ONE killcam. Really?!? How in the world do you not test your product before releasing such trash to the public? The first time this happened, I was like, huh, alright, that's by far the worst Killcam I've ever witnessed. Then it happened again...and again and again. Damn near everyday, I get killed two times in one killcam. Bad spawn points don't even do justice. They literally must have new born monkeys setting the points. Not to mention, just like everyone else noticed, these maps are huge!! How in the hell can I spawn so close to an enemy, when my entire team is 6 miles across the map from where I spawned? This is the first COD game I purchased with season pass. I've always just got the game and waited to see what dlc they had. I kick myself everyday about that fact! This game is by far a joke. You take out the actually fact of "Prestige" and changed it to squad members? Please tell me why? Almost everyone in the community is maxed out on Prestige and we've only had one map pack! Where's the element of hope to keep us playing? We can't rank up anymore. Then you have the connection issues, fetching online profile issues or even the fact that it could take you 30 mins to find a full lobby. It's bad when I can get on BLOPS and find a full lobby in 10 seconds, yet Ghosts isn't even capable of finding 6 people in one lobby, ever. Not to mention the fact that operations finally got changed to now be fully operable. I say finally, yet if that would've been the choice from launch day, everyone would've been maxed out within the first 2 months. The whole thought process or lack there of, is a complete joke to me with this game. Yet, we all still bought it and for some reason keep playing it. Just like before, I hope the next one is better. But like some have said, seems as though 3arc has taken the lead on this one.
I agree with everything you said. I got this game at Christmas with hopes to hold me over till Titanfall. Wow was I let down. The MP is awful, the lag compensation is atrocious. I may drown an infant if I ever see me shooting and getting hit markers on people then I die with one hit just to watch the kill cam show me never even fire my gun at the enemy. I lose it every time now. It's really like they are just getting worse and worse with every installment. COD4 was perfect because it wasn't too complicated. Fixed killstreaks, no death streaks, balanced weapons, and good/balanced perks. The maps were all amazing too. The only COD I will get again will be a complete next gen engine, other then that, I'll pass.
Because the current Infinity Ward team flat out sucks, is it a coincidence that both MW3 & Ghosts are considered the shittiest CODS (well apart from COD3) by far ? in my opinion they should be let go. They need to get some competent developer, it's a shame that GearBox turned them down, but knowing Activision they probably would've ruined GearBox so.. Treyarch is good, and giving them a 3 year development cycle is a step in the right direction imo, i mean Black Ops II (mp) was pretty good, but with an additional year of development it could've been something special with much more balance, and maybe the SP wouldn't have sucked. SledgeHammer is still unproven , i don't know their exact contribution to MW3 , but that game was a mess, so we'll see..
