Witcher 3's Delay Leaves 2014's Holiday Season Wide-Open

However, the absence of Witcher 3 on the horizon does create a power void of sorts in the 2014 holiday release schedule. In fact, going off of the Game Informer release schedule for 2014, with the exception of Destiny’s release in September, and the supposed October release of Arkham Knight, the holiday season is absolutely barren. (Batman: Arkham Knight, Culture, Destiny, Industry, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)

The Witcher being delayed is a bummer but there are annual titles that release during or close to the holiday that are not mentioned, like the Assassin Creed games and COD

They obviously don't buy annual titles. ha.

Although I suspect the gap will be filled. Just wait for E3. There are numerous projects heading to XB1 and PS4 that nobody has revealed just yet.

The Witcher 3 was the game I was looking forward to most this year, but I'm sure it was for the best. There are a lot of other good games coming out this year.

Smash bros will probably release in November so we'll have that.

This might be a good thing because The Division and The Order 1886 are being released in winter . The Order 1886 is single player so I will play that first couple weeks . Then I will play The Division a multiplayer game until The wicher 3 is released. Wicher 3 won't have to compete with the Division or The Order for sells.

it's Bungie and they confirmed release date in Dec of last year. if that happened, then there really would be no need for me to invest in next gen yet haha
joydestroy  +   438d ago
Destiny GOTY all but confirmed.

For me number one is Batman Arakham Knight for Pc😉

Dragon Age Inquisition and Alien Isolation are two of the big ones for me, but Batman Arkham Knight also should be amazing.

There will be plenty of games as we will get some dates next week (GDC) but most will be held back for E3 (bigger expo plus pubs/devs will be closer to knowing if the games are ready).

W3 being pushed back sucks but I expect I will have other games to play. Destiny and Arkham Knight should be huge and can sink a lot of time in both. If Dragon Age 3, The Order, Dying Light, or Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor release this year (at least 2 should ) I will have more than enough to hold me till next Spring when we see new wave. Plus there are other games to come out for PC/Wii U that may sway me on top of other unannounced/dated PS4/One games.

I'm looking forward to GDC/E3 in general though both for solid release dates and to actually see more games. Thankfully less than a week away now.

Witcher 3's delay to February is brilliant, really. You avoid the bloated release window that is holidays, then vacuum even more sales early next year.

My Top pick for Winter 2014 is Alien Isolation. It's my most anticipated game of the year.
