heh, so they're saying, you should buy used...

mochachino3446d ago

It's likely they wouldn't have played a used game before either, someone else has.

That's like saying you shouldn't buy a meal you haven't already eaten. It's all about taking a chance.

Pretty much every resturant is like that. U pay AFTER you have eaten.

If people didn't invest in a product before having tried it, nothing would ever be bought. Hence the idea of investors, quality assurance, and more. Look into the game before you buy it; check reviews, watch gameplay videos, ask friends, etc. Or, just spend your money how you see fit, and if you end up getting a bad product, do more research next time and don't blindly support developers and publishers.

Exactly. This is the most absurd nonsense I've read in a while.

So let me get this straight. Nobody has ever gone to see a movie based on trailers and TV spots?

Apparently, every person, who has ever seen a movie has been on set talking with the director while they were shooting the principle. They also were sitting in the control room while colorists were grading and polishing up the clips before processing the final product.

Apparently, no-one has ever bought a comic book without reading the entire thing first.

Apparently, no-one has ever bought an album without hearing every song.

This is such a garbage argument about games needing demos when most other forms of entertainment don't have that luxury. There are so many ways to learn about games before hand.

That's so fucking stupid, someone could complete a game and never pay for it. It's like going to a restaurant and deciding not to pay because it didn't meet your expectations.

According to the article you download a trial version. You are probably limited as to content. You download the full game after purchase to your steam library. It gives you that option to purchase right in the trial.

Kind of a cool idea you can keep your progress after you download the full game. If this takes off it would be a nice caveat to Steam services. Maybe Valve would start up a trial option to devs, something like Steamworks where it's optional and beneficial.
And I have been interested to see Ryse on my rig...
