Can Someone please send this video over to EA/Dice so those on BF4 can see how it's done...

Because DICE clearly with BF4 on PS4 shows they have no-idea what they are doing...

Hey looks like this rumour is true -->
"I'm right around the 34:45 mark now, and he says devs have about 5GB of RAM to work with. So I guess the OS takes 3GB?"

and we already knew the OS 2 core reservation from killzone slides.

Other interesting fact -->
"Yeah, around the 45 min mark he confirms 2 reserved cores for OS and states that the GPU is a little more powerful than it needs to be to run games at 1080p60 and extra resources are for GPGPU."

Off to watch this now hope I understand most things :p

OS takes 2 , 1 is left for later

it will be used later in the console life if the need more space for the games will be there.

Same for the Os , for the first firmware were using 1gig with 1 left for later when they need to add more features ..

By using this method , it let programmers learn how to exploit memory better and they keep an insurance should some un expected incident or need happen

Not to mention that Os can still free some ram for the games should the game ask.

thanks for the vid, very informative, especially if you have aspirations to work at a studio like ND.

So developers have this to work with according to all this:

6 cores, 6 threads
And of course PS4's powerful GPU

Not bad. Obviously later down the line Sony may optimize hardware so they can free up some RAM to developers. We're already getting some great looking games like Killzone so I am optimistic about the future.
