999: The Novel Coming to iOS Next Week

If there's one thing we need more of in our lives, it's 999. Not only is the original game superb, but its follow up Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward proved to be one of the best visual novels/portable games of this generation. Aksys is keeping the 999 express chugging along as they've today announced the release date of 999: The Novel (999: The Novel, iPad, iPhone)

I never played the original game, so I can't wait to experience it in glorious HD on my iPad Air.

Good. Here's hoping revenue from this game goes to making the third game.

Do you think $4.99 is too steep?

Don't know, I don't dabble in IOS games so I can't say for sure. I just want this getting more exposure.

I think it's a good price.

I bought 999 a week ago for DS. I paid £17 for it, and I'm enjoying it, and think it's money well spent. To get it for $4.99 is a bargain! And I look forward to playing its follow up, Virtues Last Reward.

I've never played one of these "visual novels" before, but I've become interested in them lately with the likes of Danganronpa and such getting good reviews.

EDIT: Did I read this wrong? Is this just a novel, not the game, with puzzles etc?

No, it worth it. It's a quality and worth the money.

@Kurisu
Yes, it's just the novel part. As I read some time ago, they said that the puzzle parts didn't translate well to smartphones or something like that.

Why iOS?
Spikeantestor  +   403d ago
I'd jump on this if my iPad 1 wasn't force closing at the very thought of it.

No Android or PS MOBILE release?
Nerdmaster  +   403d ago
I don't like to play on smartphones, but on the other hand I really want to give them my money to help to fund a third game. I'm so conflicted...

Why are so many people hating on mobile gaming. Why are you comfortable shelling out extra money for a dedicated gaming handheld when the device you already own is more than capable of playing those games plus more.

I played the DS version a few years ago but only one play through and I got murdered by an unknown person in the end. I hope they bring this to android with enhanced graphics and maybe I'll try again.

I'm just mad it's not on Android. I can't go back to iCrap.

Sorry, but my phone isn't capable of playing games like Gravity Rush or P4G, and if it were, it'd have the battery life of nothing... which would leave me unable to make calls.

I'm comfortable shelling out extra money for a dedicated gaming handheld because it's dedicated to gaming. The inputs are better, and that alone is worth the extra device, especially when that's considered over a library of hundreds of games.

You may as well ask why buy a phone when your dedicated handheld can do pretty much everything a phone can do.

The day iPhone has real buttons to play games, I might consider mobile gaming again. Tried lots of games including Mega Man X and Final Fantasy but the damn virtual joystick is unbearable.

It can't even simulate DS touch-only controls because of the lack of precision. For me even Candy Crush doesn't work well enough on iPhone because of it.

I can neither stress this enough nor explain why, but you should REEEEAALLY play this on DS if at all possible, and not just for the puzzles.

You iOS folks better buy this. I want ZE3 to happen!
