South Park: The Stick of Truth Review | The Game Scouts

Tin Salamunic: South Park: The Stick of Truth is a monumental achievement. It’s not only one of the best licensed games ever made, it’s one of the strongest role playing titles in recent memory. I would go as far as saying it ranks amongst the biggest successes of the last generation. It’s a pleasant surprise too, because at one point I was convinced The Stick of Truth would be just another missed opportunity, especially with the numerous delays and publishers switching mid development. But I should‘ve known better. I should’ve known to trust Trey and Matt to deliver on their promise. South Park: The Stick of Truth is everything fans could wish for. It plays like a full-length interactive TV season; giving us the same raunchy humor and energy we’ve grown to love over the years. Its authenticity is exemplary and I’m convinced gamers with no interest in the franchise might walk away as South Park devotees. Yes, it’s that good.

i don't see why square enix can't just use a simple turn-based combat system anymore. do people seriously hate how their older games played now?

I still replay my older square games because they just feel so much more original and special. The stories and characters we're the reason I still love the older square games.

GIVE ME NEARLY ANY OLDER SNES/PS1/PS2 SQUARE GAME OVER ANYTHING ON PS3/360 UP

It was amazing while it lasted. 15 hours worth of gameplay though was not worth the $60. If they had been offering it for $30 I would have been completely satisfied.

15 hours of gameplay isn't worth 60 dollars? What games do u buy might i ask?

Sad that this game is getting damn near perfect scores across the board yet no hype. Picking it up soon as i get the extra cash.

Dark Souls, Fallout, Skyrim, games along those lines?

It was amazing while it lasted if you read the part of my comment. I am not discrediting the quality I was simply saying it would have been more amazing if it was longer. I'd give it an 8/10 and the -2 points are strictly because it was only 15 hours long. I wasn't looking for a 100 hour game here but was hoping for at least 25-30 hours when you think of all the side quests they could have added. They had 247 episodes to work with that is 123.5 hours of content to use and only put together 15 hours worth of gameply? That's only 12% of the content they had available. I have watched a whole ton of southpark and there was a lot they could have easily put in to double that gameplay. I'm asking for a different plot I loved it but I got maybe got 9 side quests, you could have easily added in so many more miscellaneous quests to give diehard southpark fans more for their money. I'm just saying it didn't feel like a fully completed game. It felt rushed for how much material they had.

Like the original Bioshock, it doesn't matter how long the game is. I will take 15 hours of quality (or 6-8 hours in Bioshock's case) over a longer, less-consistently enjoyable experience any day.

lately open world 100 hour games are filled with monotonous and poor side quests anyways. so far the pacing of south park is awesome and the gameplay feels great, especially if you enjoy paper mario

We are going to see a lot of crap South Park products since they sold out to paramount years ago. It's their IP they can sell out, of course; it just means the quality of their show has tanked and other products as well. Nevertheless, they put on excellent musicals, but those haven't been sold to a mega corporation.

They said awhile ago that Ubisoft holds contract rights to the main flagship South Park games. So like stick, fractured and phone destroyer.

Snow Day was handled by THQ and Question and is a random spinoff. Hopefully Ubisoft is cooking something.

anast27d ago

That's one reason to be hopeful, but Ubi is trending down too.

Loved the RPGs but never played the others. Have to track them down. Still not sure about Snow Day though.

The 7 Best South Park Games

The South Park series has somehow managed to stay relevant for over 25 years, but which are the best games based on the TV show?

cammers1995134d ago (Edited 134d ago )

The only two worth playing are Stick of truth and fractured but whole. The rest were garbage except snow day which I can't say anything about yet. But with that said, unlike stick and fractured which debuted as AAA full priced titles by ubisoft, snow day is a new developer and publisher and has a budget price at only $30 soooo

I see Deadpool made the list. Also saw it in stock at the local game store. Second hand. Might finally pick up a copy.
