'The Division's' online component is 'necessary', says Ubisoft

In what seems to be a growing trend in the gaming industry, online games have become more of the focus in a lot of titles, and one of those games is The Division.

Initially revealed at E3 2013, The Division is going to an online, open-world RPG that takes place in New York City, and it is always online. (PC, PS4, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Xbox One)

So MMOs are DRM? Lol
BakPAin  +   480d ago
I love DRM!

I dont!
BakPAin  +   480d ago
I was being sarcastic, but I guess DRM is not something we kid about in here! Now I know for next time!

I shall retreat into the shadows!

CO-op is very necessary. Would increase the fun factor exponentially.

Just don't downgrade the graphics!! And maybe add some vehicles, reinforced trucks and the like...

Storing them in safehouses as extract vehicles on those very difficult missions.

Like Diablo 3, I will never buy it as long as I can't get the complete game. There is no technical need at all for fragments of the game to be withheld from the buyer, and run from a server. That is strictly underhanded DRM, and I will have none of it.
dcj0524  +   480d ago
Dude it's like a MMO lol. You NEED to be online or else the whole experience of the game would be null.

Oh gawd no! EA's doing it again with the "ALWAYS ONLINE" BS!

I guess they forgot about the SimCity incident...

Calm down, this is Ubisoft, not EA. It's okay when they do it.

On a less sarcastic note, I thought this was an online-only title since the day it was announced.
GentlemenRUs  +   480d ago
Woah... I said EA and it was Ubisoft...

Talk about zoning out there =/
cellur111  +   480d ago
I won't be playing it.
clockward100  +   480d ago
This game can suffer the same fate as Watchdog s
RebelWAC  +   480d ago
You didn´t provide me with a rational explanation to why...so I disagreed.

Its clear that everything ubisoft shows runs on pc they lie everytime will see but hopefully it doesnt happed to the devison because its next gen only title not cross gen
fredy  +   480d ago
It shouldn't be $60 like some Ps fanboys say about titanfall.
AusRogo  +   480d ago
This is a bit different though.. TF is player vs player only multiplayer. The Division has a campaign.. soo probably more content too .
porkChop  +   480d ago
Offline play actually wouldn't make sense considering the game is designed as an MMO-like coop experience.
