Raymond Cox currently holds the Guinness world record for the highest Xbox Gamerscore, and today he's hoping to close in on 1,000,000 points.
He got a white xbox one?..damn. i wonder if ms will reward him with something for achieving 1,000,000 points. 1m points is actually insane...I hope ms is prepared for something like this cos i dont want this achievement causing a malfunction or error on xbx live....lol Great job dude. hope you get paid or atleast rewarded somehow.
It took me around 4 years just to reach 100k.....i can't imagine putting in enough work to do 10X that amount. I can't believe he is still going, i remember hearing about this years ago.
Lol...I dont even keep track of mine but its definitly over a hundred...i check it maybe once in a while but i dont even know where its at right now. This guy is one dedicated gamer...crazy stuff. @admiralvc Lmao...that was given to him at the launch event(he had the highest gamerscore then) now he is setting a world record of 1m points. Honestly i dont care if he i rewarded or not.Im just amazed to see guys put this much effort into stuff like this.
"I can't imagine putting in enough work to do 10X that amount." It all depends on what games he plays. Like Hakoom (the loudest and most annoying trophy hunter who claims to be the top legit player in the world) has a lot of platinums / trophies, but he also generally focuses on quicker and easier to obtain games than quality titles. I imagine the same thing is true here, though don't mistake this post as saying it isn't a feat or impressive. I'm just saying that the people going for the top will do whatever it takes for the points, where as I'm sure your total probably comes from playing games you wanted to play and don't necessarily have quick / easy achievements.
He gets games free, he doesnt go after the hard achievements he goes after easy ones with kiddie games like Dance Revolution and Barbie games, he also imports Japanese versions for double the gamerscore on 1 game, everything he is doing isnt impressive but when it all adds up to a 1million gamerscore is
It took me almost 8 years to get to 10k. Yeah. Im not an achievement hunter.
" i wonder if ms will reward him with something for achieving 1,000,000 points... hope you get paid or atleast rewarded somehow." A free white Xbox One given to him by Larry Hryb on network television and Xbox Live for life wasn't enough?
I would assume he has sponsors and gets paid that way. No way could a full time or maybe even half time employee accomplish this, let alone be first to do it. This guy must put all of his time into this
If you think about it, gaming is practically his job (second job, if he has a job) :D
/golfclap *enter* MRMagoo123 claps clearly inimpressed.
He's played avatar... Already disgusted. Whores are whores, ruining the whole idea behind it. I check trophys and gamerscore to see if I can play with this person on more than one game. That's it. 8 years I pulled in 300k naturally. and I "play" A SHIT TON. 10+ hours a day easy..... I don't believe its "just him" no way. How can playing through something you are not enjoying for 1000gs or a platinum be entertaining? How many different versions (regional) of the same game did he have to trudge through?Kind of sad really. I admire the perseverance but FUCK kind of ashaming for gaming culture if you are actually aware of how ridiculous that feat is.
this became his job, he is probably sponsored. I would play through Colonial Marines 100 times if i was getting paid to do it
Very Well paid. Health is important and playing that game is not healthy!
Wow that's amazing
Wow he is cute.
What? I would beat his score if there was a game scored based on rubbing one out
I haven't touched an Xbox console in forever but my GS is like 10k.
Sources say he's also gone one million days without ever speaking to a girl.
Does he have a girlfriend? :P Anyway, You need to have no-life to pull something like this off, I like that.
"Anyway, You need to have no-life to pull something like this off, I like that." I wouldn't go that far, but you do need to devote an absurd amount of time and energy into playing awful games. From what I understand, the achievement system has been around since 05, which makes it over 8 years old. This means you would only need to average around 125,000 gamerscore a year to accomplish this task. This averages out getting every achievement in 125 games a year, which sounds like a hard task, though if you include sports / movie / trivia / other BS games, you can level pretty quickly.
It's possible. I had my ex turn around every time she would hear that wonderful sound of achievement unlocked!
Congrats! It's good to compete. I stopped short of 100k and never looked back. Back when I was doing it I got so bad that I would look at an achievement list before buying a game. I know it's stupid but, achievements were the ultimate achievement for gamers... Now that I stopped I'm playing games on the wii u,3ds and PC. (Little or no achievements) I realized that it was a fun ride but eventually you need to get off and just game for fun! I sure hope when people look back they can say it was worth it...
I wouldn't be surprised to hear he has Carpel Tunnel or something. I've played a ton of games and my hands/wrists start to hurt after prolonged sessions at this point. Depending on the game I'm playing and the controller I'm using.
I simply can't believe this. You would probably have to unlock every achievement of every game ever released for 360, even then you may not reach 1,000,000.
How is this gaming? All he does is play crappy games for easy points. It's just sad TBH.
Pretty clear hes a grown ass man with no job or life. Thats how you accomplish such a feat.
I don't understand why half of you are putting the guy down. Are you jealous? How does what he's doing effect your life? The guy is enjoying what he's doing and that's great! It's his life and he's choosing to do this. I for one wouldn't/couldn't do this. I think I'd just get bored of hunting for achievements haha.
Lol at jealous, how is this guy a gamer if all he does is play crappy games for achievements? That's nothing to boast about. I'd rather ignore trophy's/achievements and just enjoy good games.
A gamer is someone who plays games. Well at least the last i checked. Maybe he does play games for fun and he intends to after he reaches his goal. It's possible he set this goal for himself and is having fun doing it. Without crappy games i'm pretty sure its impossible to reach 1mil playing the "legit" games that you're referring to. It doesn't matter to me either way but I just find it funny that most everyone here is just putting the guy down. Whys it matter? haha
He didn't hit 1,000,000, unfortunately. http://www.gameinformer.com... He's going to finish it up on Monday.
