based on install base, in that order imo.

brich2331597d ago (Edited 1597d ago )

Just look at the Preorder numbers
Xbox 1 - 378,466
Xbox 360- 79,666
PC - 74,666

Nothing else needs to be said.

Visiblemarc1597d ago (Edited 1597d ago )

Disagree. Xb1 owners are excited for something new to play on their spanking new console, so naturally the preorders are high. But with a base like 20 times bigger, the 360 version will outsell it by a mile, at least in the short term.

Edit: in fact, if it doesn't sell well on 360 that bodes very badly for it as a potential system seller. As in: if it can't move 360 owners with just $60 in their pocket to buy it, then how will it make others with, thicker pockets, part with $500?

SolidGear31597d ago

Can't disagree with statistics

Timesplitter141597d ago (Edited 1597d ago )

the thing is, people don't preorder on PC anymore. They just get the game instantly when it comes out

showtimefolks1597d ago

PC games mostly don't pre order, no doubt it will sell strong on all platforms. But i think PC sales will surprise a lot of people. If you can play with on xbox360 or pc without buying a new $500 console than why would you?

people pay way too much attention to pre order numbers. as a gamer for 20 plus years, i have maybe pre ordered like 10 games

Giul_Xainx1597d ago

For now: PC, 360, 1.

When the PS4 version comes out it will be PC,360,<tied> PS4, 1.

MysticStrummer1597d ago

@SolidGear3 - But you can certainly disagree with what statistics mean, because many times they are easily spun. As others have pointed out, digital downloads have nothing to do with those preorders. That will impact mostly the PC numbers, but the other two platforms as well. I'd say the 360 numbers are low because of the lack of info regarding that version. If it turns out to be more or less comparable, there's no way the 360 version won't outsell the XB1 version.

Pekka1597d ago (Edited 1597d ago )

X1 currently still has very few games so naturally there are a lot of preorders. Most X360 owners probably just wait until release. PC gamers rarely preorder because most PC game sales are digital downloads. PC gamers don't buy much retail games anymore. I am also a PC gamer and I haven't bought any games from stores in years.

Preorders are pretty much useless statistics nowadays. I actually doubt it ever was useful. Most people have never preordered anything. At least I haven't, I have never understood why should I preorder anything.

Edit. We may never even get actual PC sales numbers because only retail game sales are followed by many companies. If MS doesn't tell PC sales (they don't have to tell them and many companies don't report sale numbers at all), we can only guess sale numbers on PC.

ger23961597d ago

So that's it? 360 and pc owners aren't going to buy it after release? Maybe people who own a 360 are waiting for actual gameplay before taking the plunge. It's odd that with a 80 million install base they only have 80, 000 preorders.

SolidGear31597d ago

@Mystic .. you make a good point about digital downloads.. and also, why hasn't there been any real info on the 360 version?

I think day 1 sales will go to X1, since it is delayed on 360. Yes, I expect X1 Day sales to be higher than those on PC.

parentoftheyear1597d ago

I would guess the delay was to sell some xb1's which would be a smart move's going to sell systems.

Lawboy21597d ago

Zampella also touched on the highly secretive Xbox 360 version of Titanfall in development at Bluepoint Games.

Though he admitted he wasn’t the best person to speak to this, he stated that their hope is to get both versions as similar as possible when it comes to features.

“That’s the goal,” he said. “I mean the game’s obviously not done yet. [Bluepoint Games is] doing a port of our game. We just started our day on patch, so they now have to take that and integrate it into their game. So, they’re naturally lagging behind us. The goal is to get it as close as possible. Obviously it won’t be exact. It’s on a less powerful system.

When asked if continued support for both titles would be equal, Zampella answered, ”we’ll have to sit down with EA and talk about that, but my assumption is yes.”

adorie1597d ago

Day 1 patch? I don't believe it. At all. I believe there is a day 1 patch, but I don't believe, not even for a nanosecond, that the delay is because of a patch, to ARGUABLY the biggest game of the 1st quarter, of 2014.

adorie1597d ago (Edited 1597d ago )

I bet the delay is specifically to boost X1 sales. This all seems picture perfect to me.

They are doing everything in their power to push the X1, including delay the 360 version so that your choices are limited in where to play it.

brich2331597d ago

The delay is because thiers a day one patch that Bluepoint games have to port over. That is what Zampella said.

lsujester1597d ago

He never actually said that's the reason, only that they'll have to implement that patch, so they're a bit behind where Respawn is. Besides, the game was delayed long before any Day One patch was known to be needed.

Honestly, I imagine the 360 version is done except for whatever patches Respawn makes. If so, they're intentionally delaying it to boost X1 sales.

HugoDrax1597d ago

The day one patch has already been written about on other sites. It's approximately 800+ MB.

SolidGear31597d ago

Or they just need more time for optimization? Wasn't PC the lead platform for it or is it the X1?

cyguration1596d ago

Patches didnt' stop EA from throwing Battlefield 4 out there all broken.

Judging by the pre orders, it will be XB1 version of the game that will sell the most, at least in the beginning. Don't forget there is also the XB1 digital version that is not counted in pre-orders for the XB1 version and of course the Titanfall/XB1 bundle. This game will be massive, it will probably do the for XB1 what Modern Warfare 1 did for the X360, regardless if there is a PC and other consoles' version.

Outside_ofthe_Box1597d ago (Edited 1597d ago )

I am 100% certain that XB1 and 360 sales will be higher than the PC version. The question comes down to whether the 360 version will be higher than the XB1 or not. I believe pre-orders have XB1 higher , but the 360 does indeed have higher install base. Would have been nice to see how many people would have been in the beta if the 360 had one. It's a toss up, but I'll give it to the XB1 version due to pre-orders and MS advertizing.

This is the only article I've ever seen with Amy Hennig's face so close to Batman's crotch, lol.
