Gamer Debates wants to know that, if you could do over, would you switch your console choice from the last generation?
Stick with the PS3. It paid off with Instant Game Collection and junk.
Yep. And I would switch.
If i could do it over i would still buy both. So much gaming goodness on both platforms. Im still buying games on both i never played before. Hell im still buying games for PS2 and gamecube i never played before as well.
XBOX 360 and I have no regrets.
I bought them both on launch. However, I wouldn't have bought PS3 on launch in hindsight. I should have waited a year. The first year on PS3 was a bit of a drought in truth and a lot of the multis were so abysmal thanks to programming difficulties you had to get them on 360. It only started to get going when Uncharted was released end of 2007 and then some of the heavy hitters in 2008, MGS4, KZ2, LBP etc. I also kept them both until now, but should have sold the 360 at the end of 2011/early 2012 when it was also worth more. I hardly played it after that point (about Gears 3). Because, well, there weren't a lot of quality exclusives after that. Microsoft turned to kinect and it mostly went down the drain at least in my eyes. But other than that, I had good times with both of them. They were worth the money in the end (or beginning, in 360's case.)
If I could do it over again, I would still go with a PS3, the exclusives were enough to make up for the less than stellar third-party games in the beginning of the generation, and things only got better as the years passed. Plus the PS3 was able to play blu rays, which I got plenty of use out of. However one thing I would have done differently was for my first console, get the extended warranty. My first PS3 literally died I think a week or two past it's standard 1 year warranty, and it cost me $150 to get a refurb. Then the refurb died in pretty much the same time interval, and wasn't covered either. So that cost me another $150. Luckily the third PS3 I got is still chugging along strong to this day, 4 or 5 years later. But what cost me $300 in refurbs, I could have spent $100, or less, with an extended warranty and saved quite a lot of money.
All my friends laughed at me when i bought the PS3.Who has the last laugh now suckers :D??
My friends didn't laugh, but they all bought 360s while I waited. By the gen's halfway point they had all traded up to PS3. I didn't say I told you so… much. They all bought multiple 360s due to RRoD before wising up, and that experience made them dismiss XB1 before it or it's initial policies were ever even revealed.
PS3 I have no regrets
I owned both consoles and if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have touched the 360. At the end I spent roughly $1000 for the system, for controllers, for charge and play kits, for more charge and play kits when those ones stopped charging, for an extended warranty from MS after multiple hardware issues, for XBL, and for wireless adapters. I went through 4 systems and lost god knows how many hours fighting with MS customer service to take back broken units and then fighting for the refund of my repair costs when MS extended the warranty. And at the end of it all I was left with a refurbished console from MS, older than the one it replaced, that I was afraid to play for longer than 1/2 hour at a time because I was afraid it would die on me too, just like my earlier consoles. Looking back at the games I played on the 360, most I could have played on my PS3 anyway but I was trying to justify the fees I was spending on XBL by purchasing multi-plat games on the 360. Really, the only exclusives I would have felt I missed out on would have been Gears 1 and 2. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have touched the 360 with a 10 foot pole. I could have saved that $1000 and put it into my PS3 library instead, and been a much happier gamer.
I'm surprised by the sudden ps3 outburst. o.0 lol
Why do think everyone is buying PS4 now. I call that an answer.
Trey 4 LIFE.
Miss Halo 3? Miss the fun games in the beginning like Ninety Nine Knights? Kameo? Miss Gears? Miss Uncharted? I think I would do the same thing. Buy both. But I would have waited 2 years to do so. My 60 ps3 died and my 360 died
Both. Like I always do. My personal preference though ps3 all the way.
I have over 140 games on Xbox 360 and about 25 games on PS3 so I would choose the X360 any day of the week. But that is just me.
140 games consisting of multiplat lol
well,PS3 is the absolute best value in gaming right now and support will by all accounts, remain strong. I was an early ps3 adopter after initially going with Microsoft and the 360.I personally don't have any bad things to say about the 360...and nothing good either I suppose. The PS3 hasn't been as awesome as I thought but definitely superior to the other choices available. Now with an excellent library and the phenomenal PS+,it's even better. Owning both makes sense if you can afford both
I got both too and i wouldn't change that both systems have loads of amazing games, one of the reasons i haven't upgraded yet. The only thing i would have done differently is stop paying for xbox live sooner and picked up ps+ earlier.
I own both but if i had to decide I would choose the xbox 360. There are a few resons why but my main one would be because the PS3 controller was horrible, my hands never got use to it and would get quite painful after a while.
I would still have brought the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, BUT I would've not have replaced my Xbox 360 after it broke on me, But IF i never replaced my broken 360 twice I would've never gotten my PS4 for only $200... Mmmm a paradox that is.
ps3 all the way
Uhm 1k on consoles is this a joke? The consoles are in their 8th and 9th years. A refurbished ps3 is only $169.99 on ebay. Stop being cheap and get both systems like 80% of the population.
With extras, at their release.
I'd still buy both. Maybe I'd want to not buy a 360 due to Microsoft being toads, but other than that I genuinely enjoyed both. It's too bad Microsoft went all crazy like a comic book villain. But that doesn't change the good times I had on both consoles, and my PC during that time frame.
If Had to do it again I would go with Xbox 360. It had better games at launch and Xbl had best online mp. Altho I bought a PS3 a week after it launched I should have waited a yr or so! Which is when it really started to take off!
start of gen until like 2010 xbox 360 most definetly, I wouldn't to this day buy the buy the ps 3 as how it was in the beginning. Later in the gen after 2010 or so I would go for the ps3. Start of the gen xbox was just better. It had better support from 3th party's, better looking games (even with weaker hardware), better online network, way better exclusives, way better controllers and so on. Later on when microsoft already supported the x36p way less. The ps 3 already changed a lot of good things, got better support, got a good online network while still being free, all the little small things their doing better than ms, not every thing behind a paywall, and the great games with plus, continued with 1st party exclusives. And it seems that they will be supporting it till current gen becomes irrelevant. From both systems I just named a few things what came to my mind. X360 to start the gen .And the ps 3 to finish it. Now it seems just the ps 4 to start the next-gen. We will see what the future will bring.
i went with 360, and probably still would, if i had to go back. i was interested in gears and halo at the time. i owned a ps1, and a ps2, though. bought a ps4 over xb1, and am looking for the right used ps3 right now.
Im selling one. i have three.
Well, if 360 has Disgaea, Ni no Kuni, TloU, Uncharted, inFamous, MGS 4, Dragon's Crown, Tales of Xillia, Yakuza, Valkrie Chronicles, or Demon's Souls than i will gladly make a switch. But nah, i have no regret having a PS3 in my room :)
All that money I spent on EcksBocks for Live, replacement headsets, AA batteries, battery packs, M$Points, faceplate, wireless adapter, controllers, etc. I spent over a thousand on that piece of crap and all I got was Gears :(. I could have bought me to original PS3s or like 4 slims. FML.
I guess the PlayStation 3 for having more exclusives I might care about. What I would miss about the XBox 360 was the Achievements, the Gears Of War series and the general ease of use of its multimedia player though.
Bought XBox360 and got PS3 free to go with my then 40 inch Bravia. PS3 definitely had the better quality, progressive/pushing the boundaries, great re-play value and a lot of genre to choose from games library.
Phat PS3 I have no regrets!
