Why The Last of Us: Left Behind is important to the industry

PS4 Attitude: "I am not, nor have I ever been, a teenaged girl. And yet, for three hours, The Last of Us: Left Behind made me experience what it might feel like to be one, with all the worries, insecurities and uncertainties that come with it. It is for this reason, and many others, that Left Behind is such an important title for the videogame industry." (PS3, The Last Of Us)

This DLC was 100% catered to social justice warriors and tumblr.

DIE CIS SCUM

I enjoyed Left Behind fine but I'm getting tired of the notion that it is a groundbreaking work of fiction that pushes the medium forward.

A girl kissed another girl, who the fuck cares. The LGBT community is not well represented in games because guess what, the majority of game customers are not a member of that community.

Two girls who liked each other kissed. Oh god no. Seriously, if you think that it was written for social justice and not for fleshing out Ellie's character then youre an idiot.

If she kissed a boy then people wouldn't feel the need to comment. Its a person kissing another person. I personally am happy that her back story got fleshed out more, regardless of her sexual orientation.

Sure a liberal feminist and active supporter of the Anita Sarkeesian debacle such as Neil Druckmann would never political agendas through TLoU

Never.. Right?

I don't mind homosexual characters, countless of movies has got it right. However, the whole kissing scene felt so awkwardly forced it made me cringe. It didn't add anything to the story other than the message "omg look how progressive we are bla bla bla"

It could have been handled so much better.

Just beat this last night. Honestly, as it was building up to their moment, it felt right. It was brilliant because my own emotions reflected Ellie's perfectly. I didn't think that the story would really turn that direction, I really did think of them as just best friends. But the way Ellie asks her to stay, and the way it all happened, I suddenly felt the emotions between them, then they kissed and it was strange for me just as it was for them, but at the same time it felt, like, necessary and powerful... One of the most well executed moments I've ever had in a game.
