I really think there is a debate to be had about whether or not Subscriptions are a good or bad thing. I was against them but I've softened a bit. I'm a PC gamer, so I respect the fact console gamers have issues with them.
However, in regards to the "quality" of the playerbase, there is no substantive difference between the two. Douchebags exist regardless of payment model. I really bought in to this argument until I recounted my experience over the years and I really couldn't see the difference. In my experience, "niceness" doesn't scale with the amount of money spent. Besides, F2P players can easily pay as much or more than a yearly sub.
