TT Games on shunning online co-op: local is "the best experience"

GR-UK talked with the senior producer working on Lego The Hobbit. The subject of local and online co-op came up: "You can play with your friends and family in the living room together, which is where there's always the best experience," Norton told us, before later adding, "We believe that the best experience is had sitting with your friends in the same room, together... So that's where we focus all our efforts." (3DS, LEGO The Hobbit Video Game, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Couch coop is one of the main reasons i buy these games

exactly!
imagine you're playing it online with someone who always runs away.. local co-op is immortal

Local Co-op is awesome but i don't see any reason to not include both.

Not everyone has friends over anymore. I have a family and live a pretty quiet life. I don't invite friends over to play a couple hrs of couch coop.

Why can't you play Online coop with your buddies? If your buddy keeps running away in game he'd probably do it on your couch too.

Unless your friend is a 12yr old ADHD kid i don't see how telling him to stop running away in person is any different then over the mic.

Lol keep making excuses. To act as if there is a legitimate reason why my friend and I playing online together would be "ruining it" is ridiculous, at best.

Derrrp duhhh playing with a friend is how it's meant to be played. Yep... That's EXACTLY what I want to do, but online.

When they stop being either A) Incompetent or B) Cheap and add online co-op will be the day I actually purchase one of their games.

Keep making excuses as if somehow having the option would RUIN the game.

Adios amigo.

Dude i completely agree. Couch coop is awesome but for a huge and a major majority of people it's not realistic. I want to say this with out sounding as lame as you will read it in your head :(
I'm a grown a$$ man i'm not inviting my friends over to play a couple hrs of Couch Coop to then have them leave and having to set a new time to come over and play coop together.

Coop should be available to people over the internet. Nothing will ruin it.

Online co-op is best for me, but having the option of local co-op is always a good thing too.

Net code can be tough no online in games these days lol.

These are lego games though, I'm not playing these games with my friends in any form. Local co-op fits all family games.
