Price adjusted for retail version of Xbox One and PS4 versions.
It is, and it also explains why shopto suddenly offered the game at an incredible £23.85, which forced me to cancel my Amazon per-order. More games with 0s3-ps4-360-xbo parity will make me much more willing to buy day one.
it has always been 30£ on amazon UK
@abdzine, not so, I pre-ordered early and got it for £28 there, better than their current price but not less that shopto's new price. Amazon often have these very early pre-order better prices, had the same on 2 other early pre-orders on ps4 recently. But you're right in saying Amazon had it on sale for the same or less than the new RRP (old RRP was £39.99).
Shopto's price prompted me to pre-order. I was going to wait for a price drop but what the hell? I'll play this straight after I finish Infamous.
So how do they now justify the price of the digital version? Minus the cost of packaging and shipping please.
"Polygon has confirmation that the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One retail version will cost $29.99, while the PS3 digital downloadable copy will cost $20" Nice
The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC is around the same length of Ground Zeroes yet it's retail was £12. And some complained that it was too expensive for it's price point, but others are willing to swallow £30 for this...even after Konami had the cheek to initially charge 10 more. I'll be holding out, till the full release to buy second hand, just on principle.
It's still $39.99 here in the U.S on Amazon.com & GameStop... wtf .____........___... .____||......||.......|___|| ||.........___||............ ||
Looks like it's only for the UK, doubtlessly because the UK's digital software laws aren't as archaic and pro-corporation as the entirety of North America's laws.
What's the problem? We are still getting the game cheaper in North America. By the way, don't forget to convert the currency because £30 doesn't equal $30.
Could take some time for them to adjust. Or maybe they just won't. It's unconfirmed for NA.
Well he updated the article guys, so we will now be getting this for $29.99 in the U.S. for PS3, X360, PS4 and XboxOne... all versions will be $29.99 - which is how it should have been.. -So that's pretty Cool- He must have heard Foxtrot below, complaining... LoL and lowered it.. I think at 30 bucks we don't have a problem that's a good price, I'm not going to be mad at 30 bucks, 40 did seem a little to close to 60 if that makes sense so I feel ya' Foxtrot.. -But for 30 I think it's Ok, that's really not that bad, especially considering the download version is 10 dollars cheaper.. @ 19.99 .____........___... .____||......||.......|___|| ||.........___||............ ||
Check again guys, price changed to $30 on US Amazon and Gamestop. Definite Purchase
Still wouldn't pay it....don't see why I should have to pay nearly full price for the start of a full price game coming out next year. I didn't pay for the Tanker missions and I'm not paying for this. They'll bundle this with MGSV in the far future. No one should support this practice.
It's your choice. Not mine.
Yeah it's my choice, because I actually give a crap about the industry
I'm buying it. Can't wait until I get my hand on this.
@ -Foxtrot it's going to be 30 now for all versions, story was updated.. So are you cool with that price point or are you still upset.. I think it's good especially now that digital will be 20 bucks.. Anyway bubble for you -Foxtrot I think they probably read that statement you made before about how it was a rip-off and lowered it.. I really think they heard you.. Bubble up for the movement... .____........___... .____||......||.......|___|| ||.........___||............ ||
-Foxtrot has it right. I don't want more games doing this either.
Alot of indie games are already like this. RAIN was originally priced at $15 and you could beat that game in 2 hours no problem. And that game didn't even have next gen graphics/tech...
@Crazyglues I think the price was only half the problem, the other point of all this was that it shouldn't be cut from the game in the first place. If they want to sell it early fair enough let people buy it if they want but don't cut it from the actual game. It's forcing people to buy this to understand MGSV more @yeahokchief Yeah difference is though they are indie games....MGSV is a AAA title. May I just say to everyone that one day there will be a game which does this that you love and only then will you truly give a crap about it....so it's better to stop this kind of thing now because it happens to more games you love. I know you think you can easily brush it off because it's the "one" game but it will end up being two games, then three, then four and so on. DLC got out of hand last gen, it was such a simple innocent thing we let pass and look what's happened today.
Maybe I care more about the industry than you. Sooner or later you're going to have to accept the fact that not everyone shares your opinion and that your opinion isn't absolute truth.
@Foxtrot "Yeah difference is though they are indie games....MGSV is a AAA title." So AAA games cost less to produce? I think that a lot of ppl are forgetting that it take resources to develop a new engine and new game. Have you all consider that maybe Ground Zero is a focus group test. To see how players react to complete to this new style of play? DID all of you complained about GT prologue? Dead rising case 0?
I guess I look at it in a good way. I see your point but I like that I'm going to get to play even a bit of the game earlier, I love the mgs series too much I guess that it makes me impatient. Although I do agree with you that it shouldn't be cut from the actual game. If anything you should get a free code with phantom pain that let's you download ground zero for free at least. Lol
"It's not truth that supporting these practices will end up harming the industry in the future......are you stupid, I mean come on This isn;t just my "opinion" it's what will most likely happen." That's exactly what I mean. Anyhow, there's been plenty of talk that the game is around ten hours. Some people said it's two hours. Others say it's 5 minutes. Are you just going to take their word for it? I'm not going to take anyone's. I'm going to play it and see for myself. You can keep crying about it but I'm still getting it :)
Your banging your head against the wall with this lot. I'm with you. I wont buy it,id rather await the full game. This & early access on Steam is dodgy ground, its like DLC but the other way round. Can you imagine the fuss if Microsoft released say 2 maps of Titanfall for £20, theyd go insane on here.
how the fuck does anyone disagree with my comment? it's not debatable. rain is a 2 hour game. cold hard fact. there's nothing to disagree with. i'm not saying i like the pricing structure. i'm just saying that if people are going to make a stink about this then they should have also cried about the pricing of RAIN and 2 hour games in the first place. it should show the names of the people that agree and disagree with you on this site or remove the feature. either that or have an option where my comments are only read by people ages 18+ along with tests for reading comprehension. the people on this site are ridiculous. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
What are you talking about I am confused
29.99 in the US sweet. I already Pre-ordered my copy.
Truer words have never been spoken. Lol
I was on the fence with the PS4 version. Now, I will definitely get it.
I hope it changes within Canada, because of how weak the Canadian coin is currently, Amazon is charging $45. Basically, I am getting ripped off from my favourite series. I know that whatever happens in the US, usually applies for Canada. Please God, lower the price for us poor Canadians :(
Its still $10 too high. The adjustment is nice and all but the fact that they're splitting these titles into 2 games doesn't sit well with me.
At 39.99 i was going to wait but 29.99 is more than reasonable
For me that made this a 50/50 chance of me purchasing it (given the length of the game) to me pre-ordering it. I'll feel better buying this now. Will give me a few days of quality MGS action until Infamous arrives in my mail. Off topic, but where the hell is the release date announcements for Dying Light, Watch Dogs and Driveclub? Thought they were all due the first quarter which ends at the end of March.
Ah good, still just a little pricey, but definitely much better.
Wonder if it'll be the same for other regions...
Now that is better, and equal to digital price (if it won't change)
Here in Holland it's €32,50, which is about $45
On 12Game it's €26. Gegroet trouwens, leuk om wat Nederlanders te zien hier.
There it's €26.96 from the given RRP of €29.99, which makes it just under €29.00 delivered.
It's 45$ in Canada as well. Our prices are usually the same as US but once in a while (especially lately) something like this happens.
Is this the only region doing this? According to Amazon, here in America it's still $39.99 for the retail version on PS4 and Xbox One.
To be fair, Brit's were paying MUCH more before hand. Converting the new price to CDN. It's still $55. Way more than us. Honestly, given the length(Yes, I know for fans like myself it'll be closer to 6-10 hours) I'm just gonna get the retail ps3 version. Then get phantom pain for ps4 later. They confirmed Transfarring already I think.
Yeah, $55 dollars is pretty steep, even for 6-10 hours of game. I'm not planning on getting the PS4 retail version if it stays $40, but if it drops to $30 I'll definitely get it over the digital.
so wait is this a special deal or will other dev start to sell games for cheaper?
I think it's just Konami responding to the reaction from consumers about the steep price for, what a lot of people consider, a "demo." So to appease their customers they dropped the price by £10, which will potentially boost sales overall.
The price is more fair, but if we're being fair then we should call it a prologue not a demo, because it is a complete entity in and of itself, none of this content is sliced out of PP and would make it in any way a demo or sub-set of another title.
@devwan I most certainly do not consider this a demo. I am actually quite looking forward to this game, and I think that it will be well worth my money, as will The Phantom Pain.
Just wait for a used copy to show up at CrapStop, play it for 7 days, then return it for a full refund. The game is short enough you could probably beat it in 2 days. Why spend any money on this joke of a game? Looks great, it's MGS, but I'm sorry a 3-6 hour single player is not worth $40.
That's a solid plan for anyone willing to wait. The play time for me will more than likely be 6+ hours, what with getting 100% completion and every trophy. And to me, that's well worth the $30 I'll be paying for the digital version.
Does the XB1 version of this game have framerate issues? Only asking because the journalist only mentioned the PS4 version having a "butter smooth" framerate. Regardless its nice to see the price drop a bit.
Well, Kojima mentioned the PS4 version being the best, but I don't think we have much more info on it. I can't imagine there will be massive differences.
Don't worry, you'll know whether there are framerate issues on the Xbox One version by the 60 "articles" approved on N4G shouting it to the high heavens.
Great news. Now I have to consider retail or digital.
Just got an email from ShopTo saying my Xbox One preorder had gone down £9 to £23.86. Konami altering due to backlash?
It's still $70 retail in Australia... No way in hell I'm paying that much for a 2 hour game.
I'm still not paying for a demo of a game.
For the people who disagree with me. I hope y'all realize that Metal gear solid V ground zeroes is a demo,it's not the final game.just like gran turismo 5 prologue that was a demo who people paid for.
Its a prequel set 9 years before Phantom Pain. Demo? Nope. Short? Perhaps.
Demos show stuff that's in the main game or something that's like the game that has nothing to do with it.
Far more reasonable.
Good thing the stupid people who said "stop complaining about the price" did not win out in the end. See what a good complaint gets us!
Its weird if half the effort of complaining went into our shi**y politics and government here in america we'd probably change something there too. but we just alright with vidyah games now, arent we?
But here is the thing, what did those complaints really accomplish? Because, I was only going to be paying 29.99 anyway by downloading the game. Hideo said he wanted to release this to get our feet wet and ease the waiting time between TPP. Is that really such a bad thing? He developed a game and spent money doing so, but is wrong to ask people to pay for it? Okay, makes sense. If that price is too much for you, then do not get it. But for someone like myself who just spent $400 plus dollars on a Ps4, $30 dollars is not going to break my bank.
Its not about breaking a bank but fairness. In business both the buyer and seller needs to feel they got the better end of the deal. people forget this simple rule. If you feel that the game is worth even $100 and you think you got the better end of a deal that is good for you. Most Japanese will be willing to pay over $70 for games while we need special bells and whistles to spend a cent past $60 plus tax. And Hideo does not spend money, he invests money.
