What Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 should have learnt from Dark Souls

VideoGamer: "MercurySteam did a great job on the art direction for Lords of Shadow 2, crafting a beautiful world. It's crying out for something meaningful to happen within it, and yet it rarely does." (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Dark Souls, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

In other news:

What Dark Souls should have learned from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Answer: Not to be so damn difficult that I can't make it an hour in the game without blowing up my house.

It is not difficult just use a thing called a brain or the internet. Dark Souls has nothing to learn from any game except the mistakes of its predecessors (which to add there is not much mistakes though things could be improved).

"called a brain or the internet"

Jesus let's just get insulting shall we? Lighten up. Dark souls is bloody hard and confusing, even with a guide.

I mean really.

Wow, what a douchey thing to say.
LAWSON72  +   304d ago
At the two below my previous post, no the douche thing to do is say change a game because it does not appeal to you while it appeals to probably a couple million people. I dont go around saying I hate BF they should make it more like COD or Halo. What I am trying to say the game is good because of what it does you get rid of that it is just another game.

Dark souls' brand of difficulty is one of the point of the game to begin with .

There are more than enough easier alternatives . Why dont people go there isntead of clamoring for DS to be easier ? It's not even the hardest game out there .

Other than that i agree that LOS would benefits from more freedom , but nothing to do with Demon/dark souls . It's a great serie , but it's still missing the huge exploration and adventure element from Castlevania itself , ditched to become an hack and slash , an excellent one with its own tone , but still one

'Too difficult' isn't even a argument.
The difficulty was one of my favorite things about dark souls. Its not cheap difficulty. The game expect you to think, and be careful, to learn from your battles, and not just mindlessly slash through another horde of foes. On my first 2-3 playthroughs i never looked at the internet, it simply a matter of learning the game. Many developers try to get this, but few succeed.

IF you find Dark Souls too difficult and you want that to change then maybe it's just not for you, there are dozens of easier games out there.

I don't want my favorite RPG to start copying hack and slash games just so it appeals to a more casual crowd, no offense.
Allsystemgamer  +   304d ago
It's not difficult. It just doesn't hold your hand. If you die, it's YOUR fault.
HumanAfterAll  +   304d ago
You have all missed the point here. The article talks about what C: LOS 2 should learn from Dark Souls, I made a bit of satire about how difficult Dark Souls was.

Did you really think I was being serious about Dark Souls changing? People are thicker than marmite

You all need a fucking sense of humor.

The key to success in Dark Souls is a combination of two things, patience and the ability to learn from your mistakes
Master-H  +   304d ago
The Castlevania dudes should stop learning from other games and make new shit on their own, first it was God of War , then Zelda, and now Dark Souls ? can't they create something great and unique on their own ? no wonder it's getting mixed reviews.

Castlevania has sh!t to learn from Dark Souls, a non- Hack & Slasher.

Lords of Shadow doesn't need to learn ANYTHING from Dark Souls. Dark Souls isn't even that great of a game, Demon's Souls is much better in almost every aspect. Another mainstream gamer thinking Dark Souls is great because it's different than the average first-person shooter drivel that has been coming out as of late.

If Lords of Shadow 2 is bad then it doesn't need to take elements from Dark Souls; it just needs to be a better game.

Ugh you demons souls elitists are terrible.
LAWSON72  +   304d ago
What gave it away, lol?
IMO the gameplay mechanics are much better and I prefer the equipment upgrades as well, but the game is fantastic. I mainly just like the world, atmosphere, and nexus in Demon Souls. I really did not care for the tendencies, and I thought the covenants were a nice addition.

But what does that matter I am a maiunstream gamer apparently, lol
