Will Fallout 4 Succeed if it only releases on PS4, Xbox one and PC?

But if Fallout 4 did release on next gen consoles alone, would it be successful? Given the current installation base, with more than 4.2 million PS4s and 3 million Xbox One consoles at last count (which was January), would it be enough to ensure a strong return? (Fallout 4, PS4, Xbox One)

next-gen? you mean current gen.... the ps3/360 are now LAST-GEN.
Tiechie  +   305d ago
While that's true. A lot of people still refer to them as next gen consoles.

Todd Howard is absolutely famous for saying "install base DOESN"T MATTER. if install base mattered, everyone be making board games because there's a hell of a lot of tables in the world." lol. so i don't doubt for a minute that Todd Howard and Bethesda's next game will be PS4/Xbox One and PC only. remember Bethesda launched Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on the Xbox360 in the first year of the consoles life, as well as on PC and then later on PS3. so i don't think anyone has to worry.

EDIT: an considering the hype for a Fallout 4 game, which has never even been announced, im sure Fallout 4 will sell more than ok.

Fallout 4 (if it exists) will sell just fine.

Ya it will still do great. This is how things work. The ps2 sold a ton, do u want fallout 4 on ps2 aswell. Just dumb.

Its fallout. If will succeed no matter where its released

It's not like it would release tomorrow. The earliest it would release is next year. By that time the install base will be considerably higher.

Ps4 and xbox 1 NEED games so this is an opportunity.

Of course it will, there are MILLIONS of X1, PS4, and PCs, plus Fallout has a huge fanbase that is anxiously awaiting some kind of announcent. I'd buy it day-one, and probably pre-order it as soon as I could. Yeah, they had some issues, but I love those games nonetheless.

Personally I'd prefer it for Next gen (new gen) only, with a new engine. It's big open worlds like this that'll suffer the most if they try to release it on all platforms. I'd rather focused all their time and attention on making this a truly next-Gen experience.

Fallout 4 would succeed on the Virtual Boy. Everyone is excited for it.

Of course it will, Oblivion released on the 360 and PS3 a couple years after launch and it did extremely well. Fallout 4 will do the same.

Not even understanding why this is a question.
fonduktoe  +   305d ago
Such a dumb question. By the time it releases the install base will be much larger. I want more devs focused on current gen which means ps4 and xbox1.

i love Fallout, i think it will do good. i would buy it across 3 platforms PC, PS3 and PS4 i would even buy it if they released it for PS vita as well man Sony can you do that for me? That would be huge to Fallout fans if they released Fallout 4 as a Vita Game too it would surely help it.
fenome  +   305d ago
What about remote play from your PS4 to your Vita though?
press-start  +   305d ago
well i know they will have my money fallout3 was my favorite RPG game last gen along with Skyrim which i have still not finished countless hours spent on them to games.
hkgamer  +   305d ago
It's no point releasing on ps3 since it would be plagued with glitches and bugs. Ps3 just doesn't have the ram for it.

Smaller install base is sometimes great for these franchises. People are desperate for games.
