Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster delay explained by Square Enix

Final Fantasy director Yoshinori Kitase has explained why the remastered editions of X X-2 were delayed on PS3 and Vita.

The Square Enix executive told Digital Spy that the PS2 originals proved challenging to port to other platforms because of the system's unique architecture. (Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster, PS Vita, PS3, Square Enix)

Why is it hard to believe they're having problems porting a game from ps2 to PS3/vita? Maybe they lack talent but not lying :P
djplonker  +   63d ago
I meant it was used as an excuse maybe they do lack talent

(Oh and persona 4 that went from ps2 to vita no problem! )

Don't compare Pesona 4 to FF it's way different in coding.
And do not forget that they had to remaster 2 games
and all textures and soundtrack and add new content while persona is straight port with only new content

Well ps2 had the emotion engine, so direct ports obviously won't work on the cell.

Different architecture problems.

It's not that SE is lying, it's just that it's hard.

Companies like Konami handled it really well, and most internal HD remasteries by Sony.

But then you have remamastries by Capcom, and it shows that there were issues.

I'd much rather recieve a Konami/sony type HD re-mastery than a capcom type, so please take the extra time, SE.

To be honest, Konami rather screwed up with the Silent Hill HD remaster. Even though they patched it later (to some degree), it was hard to swallow.

@Above

OHHH I knew I forgot about something.

Yes you are right, it was a really bad port. Thanks for reminding me!

Man I was so sick of waiting for the remake I just emulated FFX on my PC awhile back...now I have no desire to revisit the game...even in HD.

Game is still awesome btw.

I was tempted to do the same, but I managed to hold out luckily lol.

I bought a second hand ps2 last year on amazon so I could play ff10 ff12 and persona 3 it is an original chunky beast and works a charm not one fault with it :D

I got stuck on ff10 around 60 hours in and gave up until I get the vita version :3

ff10 & south park rpg & darks all in the same month Its going to be awesome!

Did the same, the textures are very sharp, but still flat, the new textures in the remake look pretty much re-done,but to be honest, FFX-2 and FFXII look fantastic once you setup the emulators graphics settings properly, the result is a very crisp image with spell effects and such blended in very smoothly.

The bonus? Original soundtrack and character models, lastly... NO LIGHTNING! :)

Yup, always been jealous of PAL version of FFX.

I'm glad i'll finally get to play it.
WildArmed  +   63d ago
Well for one you have higher res textures, and much more importantly, you could not get international edition content in the US.

This is the first time they've released it in the US, so there is a very good reason to pick it up right there!

Lastly, new soundtracks, sound be interesting!
adorie  +   63d ago
International came out in Pal territories. You could buy a used copy, dump it and be ready for HD goodness in no time. I did a few years back.

Give ME FF12 now.

YOU NEED TO LOUDER. They said the fans really need to demand it.
k2d  +   63d ago
The music in X/X-2 should probably be a little more in the background, hopefully we'll be able to adjust the sounds levels in the settings.

Oh thank goodness. This is just why it took so long to release. I thought it was delayed in the US. I've already fully payed off both PS3 and Vita versions. I'll summon Sin if the game doesn't come out next month.

Typical SE delaying tactics

The game is amazing on Vita, i imported it in January. The only issue i have noticed so far was a little slow down after the meeting with Seymour in Guadosalam. It lasted for about 5 seconds, but that was it.

Currently at Bikanel desert, getting the team back together :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the character redesigns look really good, Wakka especially, it oddly makes it almost look like a whole new game and not a remaster!

I have difficulty believing this logic when they recently released a port of dragon Quest 8 on Android/iOS in Japan
