I accept your challenge to explain FF8's story to you in one sentence that will not only make the story make sense, but perhaps even make it good as unbelievable as that may sound.

Squall dies at the end of disc one when Yunalesca (was that the Queen's name) hurled a man sized ice stalagtite through his chest/heart on that parade float, and from that point on the story is nothing but dream like non-sense and Squall's personal fantasies coming true because the synapses in his brain are firing off uncontrollably as he dies until you beat the game, which in real time was just the last seconds/minutes of Squall's life, at which point he loses all sense of self and his consciousness fades into white oblivion.

Granted, that was a run-on sentence, but one non-the-less. What's my prize? It better be good for someone to actually explain FF8's story in a way that makes sense, eh? I think one million dollars is fair for everyone involved.
