Left Behind is just
perfection.

Perfection is a bit of an overshot. As much as I enjoyed it, I forsee no reason to go replay it at all (unlike TLOU). Very good DLC for people who love Ellie though!

GentlemenRUs3715d ago

Well, It just works and that's how like like it.

Not perfect but it does what it does best :P

ALARM-clock3715d ago

While the narrative was great, I didn't feel it had the same impact as the main game did. The gameplay, however, is where this DLC really shines. Combat is much different with Joel, he's bigger and stronger, but also slower and more easily spotted, whereas Ellie is quicker and stealthier, but also more easily staggered. This adds a very intense dynamic to the combat where planning and execution is everything.

Yeah well. How did you miss Joel's cliff hanger lie to Ellie at the end of part 1. If that's not a top 10 moment then half your list isn't either.

Inverno930d ago

Honestly one if not the best ending to a video game I've ever seen. It was like the end of their journey but a cliffhanger to the rest of their lives.
Also a top 10 list is a little odd to do for the type of game this is…

MIDGETonSTILTS17930d ago

Things you missed:

Hotel basement
Getting trapped upside down and then saved
When Ellie killed the rabbit
Carrying Ellie

Playing as Joel at the beginning of Part 2
Seeing a baby walk in the snow in Jackson
Snowball fight with kids before patrol (& creepy PTSD of brick throwing from Part 1)
Finding the stash, and getting chewed out by Jonathon
Running through the woods as Abby
The fence, and fighting alongside Joel as Abby
Searching the empty house for Joel, and finding the basement door
Outside Seattle, overwhelmed with grief and mystery
Killing first Wolf (my first kill of Part 2 was named Casey, silenced pistol to the right temple, won’t ever forget the pink mist)
Mole King
“Don’t, she’s pregnant!” >>> “GOOD.”
The entire aquarium set piece
Getting my head blown off by Ellie as Abby
Ellie’s waking nightmares back at Jackson
Discovering that I’ll never be able to play Joel’s song ever again

ArchangelMike930d ago

Ellie absolutely slaughtering David, and then Joel turning up and just embracing her - has to be up there in the top 3 moments from that game.

ArchangelMike930d ago

The mistake was combining both games into one top 10 list. Author could have written two articles and got two sets of clicks, as well as doing justice to so many awesome moment from both games.

sourOG930d ago

Really? lol. I didn’t know it was that big. I thought to have your own “may 4th” you needed decades of content and a religious fandom.

ChickenOfTheCaveMan930d ago

The Ellie and Joel discussion after she escapes and then brings up the Sarah subject in the first one is just heartbreaking and awesome, that's a turning point for both characters. In part two, I feel like the "he was just...ready" scene is underrated af, you really see how Owen got his moment of clarity where he was really young and hopeful as a Fireflies and just died inside by becoming a WLF, he wasn't cool with ending like this old scar.

Top 10 DLCs of All Time

Examples of DLCs that are NOT cynical cash-grabs are few and far between. These rare gems can significantly expand upon and improve the base game. GameLuster's Nirav Gandhi highlights the top ten DLCs of all time. Publishers take note - these are DLCs done right.

My favorite DLC list would be:

10) Dragon Age Origins: Awakening
9) Assassin's Creed IV: Freedom Cry
8) Destiny: The Taken King
7) Fallout 4: Far Harbor
6) Fallout New Vegas: Lonesome Road
5) The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard
4) The Elder Scrolls IV: The Shivering Isles
3) The Last of Us: Left Behind
2) Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
1) The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine

Honorable) Mass Effect 3: Citadel, The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone, FarCry 3: Blood Dragon, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
Also) Fallout 76: Wastelanders (Actually brings some sense to the game) (Should be a standalone offline title)

Not a single Borderlands DLC on there. For shame.

RaidenBlack1421d ago

Actually I missed out :-
GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony
Infamous First Light
Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss
Bloodborne: The Old Hunters
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds

Where’s Big surf island from Burnout Paradise? And all the extras.
GTA4’s dlc was one of the best ever
Undead nightmare was brilliant My 3 favourites off top of my head great value and great content

toxic-inferno1421d ago

Big Surf Island hadn't even crossed my mind!

I know there are plenty of good examples of how to do good DLC (and that Burnout Paradise isn't the most popular in the series amongst fans), but I remember being blown away by the way that Criterion supported Burnout Paradise. The game grew so much since its original release.

RosweeSon1421d ago

Yeah majority for free as well the island would have been free from what I heard but EA wanted to charge luckily wasn’t too expensive and got time money’s worth. Really enjoyed that game and all the content. A Delorean is always gonna be a winner for me 😂✌🏻

RosweeSon1421d ago

Prey Dlc is currently £6.49 on PSN 59% off think I’ll grab that now haha.

ifrit_caress1421d ago

Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 DLC was great, Horizon: Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds DLC was good.

RosweeSon1421d ago

I’ve not got round to the frozen wilds yet I need to soon really enjoyed the base game

MoonConquistador1421d ago

An excellent addition to the game, well worth it.

Tacoboto1421d ago

Not even an honorable mention for Frozen Wilds, shame. Damn that expansion felt and even looked better (artistically - those hot springs!) than the base game.

toxic-inferno1421d ago

Yes, the Old Hunters was fantastic - incredible how much they managed to expand the lore of the game, while creating a short, yet incredibly rich, genuine Bloodborne experience. In a way, it's a shame it didn't receive more DLC, but to have such a successful game and follow-up DLC is so rare that we probably shouldn't complain!

pwnmaster30001421d ago

With the amount of fans bloodborne has, I am very surprise they haven’t made a sequel or more DLC. I’m hoping for a sequel for the PS5.
If Sony let’s this franchise die then it will be a major loss to me.

UltraNova1421d ago (Edited 1421d ago )

Pwnmaster,

It's not up to Sony entirely, is it? From Software is busy with Elden Ring so I wouldn't hold my breath for BB 2 anytime soon.

pwnmaster30001421d ago

@Ultra
I could of sworn Sony own the IP.
Was thinking they can push it or something

toxic-inferno1421d ago

The franchise is showing no sign of dying yet - they keep bringing out more and more merchandise for it all the time!
