The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Hands-off Impressions [Capsule Computers]

Zac Elawar from Capsule Computers writes:

"I was extremely excited to be able to attend a live, 40 minute demonstration of the title by the studio’s Head of Marketing and PR, Michał Platkow-Gilewski, and QA Analyst Łukasz Babiel, both of whom also answered questions in an open-floor forum format following the conclusion of the demo. They opened with a brief presentation, getting us up to speed on the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, although everyone in the room was quite familiar. I nominated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Most Anticipated title in our 2013 Game of the Year Awards after all (the fact that it didn’t win should not be held against me!). And let’s get your most burning query out of the way up top – no, we were not enlightened as to the release date of the game. It looks like we will have to wait a little while longer before that piece of information is divulged. Sorry fellow monster hunters!"

This is going to be huge. Witcher 3 will be THE RPG of 2014, but for some reason I think a lot of people will ignore it. At least it's on PS4/X1 so it's bound to garner attention.

"but for some reason I think a lot of people will ignore it"

If they ignore it, then they're stoops!

Skyrim sold loads so no reason why anyone would pass on this. Looks amazing.

This is my most anticipated next-gen game, along with Dying Light.

I don't really read much of what is released anymore, because then i can play the game with a fresh take on it. I don't want to be bored out of my mind, when it does finally release. I already know i'm going to play it anyways, so it's all good. :)

I trust CDPR to deliver, more so than most companies.

I am with you. I like good RPG's especially now the game is more open and allows for more exploration. I played and enjoy 2, but had wished that it was more open and I could revisit the towns or stay longer.

So I know I will be getting this one. No need to read a bunch of spoilers and opinions. I does spoil the experience if you already have too much info on the plot and gameplay.

I do the same thing now too, especially with games I already know I'm gonna get. I've ruined too many moments that would've been awesome if I didn't know about it ahead of time, but seemed watered down because I already heard about it in a hands-on preview.

Overhyping a game can also create unrealistic expectations, which is unfair to both yourself and the developers because then people can be harshly critical of the game, as well as not letting themselves just enjoy it for what it is because they made it something entirely different in their mind.
