Physical Media Still Has Its Place

Hardcore Gamer: In 10 years time if I decide I want to pop out Chulip, Drill Dozer, Patapon, Chibi Robo, or whatever else is taking up all this space, it will be there for me. PS2 Rez is forever, but the XBLA version on 360? What I paid for was the gaming experience for as long as Microsoft is willing to keep it alive. (Culture, Retro)

Speaking as someone with a frankly MASSIVE amount of games, yeah, collecting is worth it for collecting's sake alone.

i personally enjoy collecting the physical media. although now i am hearing there is a life expectancy for cart based games. Something to do with the chips and the metal traces.

Even optical media has some sort of shelf life before it no longer works. either that or the lasers that read them. given a choice between digital and physical i prefer physical but i understand if a company is trying to transition from one format to another.

been there...done that with records to tapes to disc to digital.

I love physical copies of games.

The 3DS & Vita tiny cartridges make me want to collect every single one.

Kind of different, but I like the collector's editions of physical media. A figurine or traditionally drawn promotional poster kind of adds a sort of artsy element to physical media. It feels like you're getting more than just a game.
