Imitation is the sincerest form of flappery

AWESOMEoutof10's Fraser Brown isn't quite sure what to make of the chaos surrounding mobile game super-hit Flappy Bird. "The roots of the industry are not just in innovation, they are in iteration. Mechanics and designs used over and over again, slowly being perfected across multiple games created by different developers. And this continues today. When you say “military shooter” there’s a chance you’re imagining Call of Duty, but you could imagine Battlefield and the image in your mind would likely be the same. So where is the line, when does a game cease following genre trends and become a copy, “ripping off” other games?"
