Slimgamer writes:

"Anyone familiar with gaming history knows that the Playstation was originally a CD based addon for the SNES, but beyond a few concept sketches here and there most details of the project have been forever sealed away. That is until today, when GM of GREE Vancouver and retro game aficionado Steve Lin has uncovered some technical documents pertaining to the SNES CD. Earlier today he Tweeted his finds along with a few images of the technical manual. We've got the images here for you"

Wasnt the final fantasy 7 demo way back played on this machine or its architecture?

Nah that was a tech demo for the Nintendo 64 before Square abandoned Nintendo over the "Why is N64 still using cartridges?" argument because there wasn't enough space for what they had in mind.

It would have been interesting to see what it would have been like if Nintendo & Sony stuck together.

This is why teleportation to Parallel worlds needs to be invented.....this and the chance to see what the Dark Knight Rises would of been like if Heath Ledger was still alive :)

Or if sega still made consoles!

Dude, in this day and age, anything is possible. Maybe Sony and Nintendo will get toegether at some point. They having a merger would have sounded ludicrous back then. But now it doesn't seem to far fetched, especially that Nintendo are looking for mergers and acquisitions.

I think it sounds more real that ninty and Xbox would be one entity, as Microsoft is seriously looking to sell off their Xbox division. And Nintendo has tons of money, they could easily make such a purchase. But again all this talk about MS selling off Xbox could all just be rumors. Though it's overwhelming that these "rumors" are being stated by a lot of gaming news websites and insiders.

All in all I don't care who the parent company is, as long as we have playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles.

More competition is always good, but i'd wish Nintendo would buy Rare's IP's back, i want Banjo Threeie :p

I remember reading about this in a Nintendo Power mag and was hyped (my dad was gonna buy it) sadly it never came out.

Does anyone know if this would have been superior to Sega CD's specs? I would like to know if this had come out which would have been better technically!
