10 Reasons RPG Enthusiasts Will Love 2014 | Games Abyss

Matt Randisi writes, Do you often envision yourself breaking into people’s homes, rummaging through their belongings, and then having a nice civil chat with them afterwards? Is your wardrobe organized by amount of elemental protection it offers you? Do you level up instead of having birthdays? Well my friend if you answered yes to any of these then you may be an RPG lover…or a nutcase who should probably seek professional help. Either way, there are a boat load of reasons 2014 may go down as the year of the role-playing game. Whether you’re a traditionalist who appreciates the lost art of turn-based combat or a pioneer who has kept up with the domination of the western style open-world genre, there is something for everyone for just about every system you may own coming out this year.

No Monolith Soft's X? Lame...

Nerdmaster1494d ago (Edited 1494d ago )

To be fair, I don't think X will be released in 2014.

EDIT: But, yeah, comparing to most of the games on the list, X deserved at least a quick mention.

hated_individual1494d ago

I guess you missed information that Monolith Soft's X will be released in 2014, atleast for Japan and X was previously slated for 2014...

Nintendo only confirmed what they previously confirmed.

Sly-Lupin1494d ago

No Disgaea 4, Project Phoenix, Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, or Divinity Original Sin, either.

hated_individual1494d ago

Thats so f* lame that any of these didn't made it to the list. Kinda pathetic if you ask me.

There is another list on here from like 10 days ago that has about 100 RPGs on it to be released in 2014.

This could be a GREAT year for gaming.

kingdom181494d ago

Could you please show me a link? I searched myself but couldn't find this list! I can never have to many RPGs :D

Nerdmaster1494d ago

But this list only considers american releases. Conception II and Bravely Default were released in 2013 in Japan. So even if X is going to be released this year in Japan, for the purpose of this list, it doesn't belong in it.

Bravely Default - Getting soon after completing my queue games.
Conception II - For 3DS instead of my Vita
Final Fantasy X HD - For Vita

Irrelevant to me:
Elder Scrolls Online
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
Dragon Age Inquisition

Already played:
Tales of Symphonia games

Look Interesting but not getting:
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Dark Souls II - Played Dark Souls on X360

I have Lighting. I gotta get Bravely default, Xillia and Xillia2, TOS chronicles, MAYBE FFXHD, Persona Q if it makes it stateside, Person 5 probably not for America this year. I need to get a VIta for P4G. I have a lot to do.

Why is no one listing any of the upcoming Indie rpg's?
Soul Saga and Cryamore are two of my top picks right now...

Sly-Lupin1494d ago

Because the big indie RPGs are PC games, and most gaming sites focus on console games.

My big 2014 games are almost all indie RPGs. Stuff like Divinity Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity.

wonderfulmonkeyman1494d ago

If I owned a better laptop, I'd check those out, but right now I'm limited to stuff coming to the Wii U.XD

DCfan1494d ago

Not sure about FFX since i finished it last night. Pumped for the Tales games.
