This review honestly sounded kind of fishy. The things that were being counted as issues seemed a lot like personal preference rather than actual issues. Although it did make me reconsider pre-ordering the game. I really enjoyed Lords of Shadow, so I know I'll play this one. Though I think I'll wait for some other reviews to come out before paying full price for the sequel.

The demo was pretty fun though, so I don't think I'll need to worry about not enjoying the game.

Honestly, after seeing the 4/10 that EGM gave it, morbid curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded the demo off Steam.
Game is pretty, good art design but I didn't take to it at all. Thought the combat itself was standard, I largely disliked the climbing mechanics and just the whole experience felt way too hand-holdy and overly directed for me.
Never played the original Lords of Shadow, so can't really say how it compared to the other.

I preordered after playing the demo. My biggest complaint was that the platforming in the first game (especially in the DLC) was some of the worst ive ever experienced in 20+ years of gaming.

They seemed to have greatly improved both the camera and the actual platforming controls in the demo.

Looking forward to finishing the story as dracula with a progressively open world. Even before I heard all that, I had no problem preordering just knowing Ajuro is doin the music again. Epic soundtrack in the first game.

The demo was also the tutorial for the game, so the hand holdy stuff was supposed to be that way. if it wasnt then it wouldnt be a very good tutorial.

The demo was mediocre. Visually it looked great but the gameplay wasn't anything to write home about. The platforming was hit and miss and the game design was so repetitive and unimaginative, and it was just the demo!

You can't seriously make the player pause on a bolt and move away at the last second to have the enemy's attack break it off and then do it again, and again.

Then move up to the next area and have to do it again, and again, and again.

Then move to the next area and have to do it again, and again, and again.

I deleted the demo right there so if you had to do it again later, MY GOD!

This game is going to be awesome. The rest of you can get bent.

I agree, game is probably going to awesome.

Looking back at LoS1, the reviewers had a lukewarm reception about it, and the players were a bit confused as many thought it was a masterpiece of a game. Many reviewers went back later to retract earlier "mediocre" statements. Any I knew who had played it loved it, and for a lot of them, they had played no castlevania game prior.

So I have no doubt this one will likely end up the same.
