PS4 owner finds PS Plus loophole, subscribes until 2035 without paying a penny

PlayStation 4 users can currently claim a free 14-day PS Plus trial subscription for free via the PSN store, and one gamer has found a loophole on the marketplace that allows repeat spamming of the offer. He’s now a free PS Plus member until the year 2035 without paying a penny.

The story is too old to be commented.

Way to ruin it for yourself!

Mikelarry1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

i know like there are somethings you keep to yourself, why would you ruin such a good deal... sorry thats just the thief in me apologies :)

now that this is out there i hope sony enforces to charge him upfront

ZodTheRipper1434d ago

What an idiot.
1.) Isn't it enough for the next 5 years or so? Why 2035?
2.) Why even send this to a news site? He'll probably loses it all now since somebody will notice this.

Oh_Yeah1434d ago

Why should they charge him? It's their mistake, that'd be like fining someone who found money on the street. Just because it's there and they picked it up they should be punished? Give me a break, these are corporations with millions and should have some of the best software engineers/ security out there. Let this serve as a lesson.

Mikelarry1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

if you find stolen money on the street or even if a bank makes a mistake and deposit money into your account and you spend a penny of it and it leads back to you you will have to pay that back there is no two ways about it. i don't make the rules but that's what it is

case in point

Ol_G1434d ago

In holland this wouldn't happen if you transfer money to the wrong account the bank politely asks it back and when you refuse they give your name and adress to the person it belongs to so they can contact you but you can flat out refuse to give it back they made a mistake it's not your fault going to the police doesn't matter they'll tell you to double check

Oh_Yeah1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

Finders keepers my man. This rule was established when we were kids, you know this, it's up to that person if he wants to make the morally right or lawful decision, whichever he chooses I don't think for a non violent crime/ has little effect on something should they charge him or punish him with time. On a bigger scale in America, we are wasting BILLIONS of taxpayers money locking people up and ruining lives for these non serious crimes like selling/ using drugs and whatnot. Obama and many other presidents have used drugs in the past and committed non harmful crime correct? Imagine if they got caught. They would have never been a leader, doesn't take away from the fact that they have done it, just because they didn't get caught, That means they should be in a better position?Lol backwards ass logic everywhere, get rid of stupid thinking save the country money. Rant over.

gaffyh1434d ago

@Oh_Yeah - If you think selling drugs is a non-violent crime, you are extremely mistaken. It is the root cause for most of the societal problems and leads to increases in prostitution, burglary and violent crime in pursuit of the money to pay for the drugs. Not to mention all the crap that happens where these drugs are produced.

Also, more than likely, there is something in the PSN user agreement that says that Sony can remove all the false subscriptions without any consequence.

Oh_Yeah1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

Tobacco and alcohol are legal, yet kill far more people, and cost us far more in healthcare expenses then every other drug combined, if your gonna use/sell drugs they will do it regardless of law! might as well make money off them people right, and stimulate this economy? I rest my case. Jury dismissed. Judge lowers glasses..."this guy makes too much sense, I think it overloads the common person based on the disagrees".

djplonker1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

@gaffyh alcohol is a drug...

King_Slayer1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

There is a big difference between using drugs recreationally and selling drugs. While selling drugs may seem non violent, in the end the drug dealer can become a target for violent crimes such as robbery.

gatormatt801434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

They will cancel his transaction or adjust his transaction to the correct price. Especially now since he reported the error to the gaming media.

Here is Sony's policy regarding errors. This is from their ToS under #7 Transactions.

"Errors in listed prices, product descriptions, and associated terms and conditions may occur. If we discover an error in the price of items you have ordered, we will contact you. You will have the option of either reconfirming your order at the correct price or canceling it. If we are unable to contact you, your order will be cancelled."

Oh_Yeah1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

Well hmmm if they legalize them drugs there will be government regulation and dispensaries, (legal drug dealers with safer product) ohhhh kinda like they're doing with Mary J in some states now! Thus bringing down crime rates related to drugs! None of you disagree-ers can win this debate, you can't beat logical thought, well unless you're a girl then you can withold sex to beat logic.

truefan11434d ago

The guy isn't very smart, but this once again shows the suspect PSN network. If can be manipulated this easy, hold long before people start getting important information. I thought that $50 per year charge was supposed to make the network secure, no loopholes.

thorstein1434d ago

Well, I did learn something from this. All those "free trials" can be used to add to your own PS+ account?

gaffyh1434d ago

@Oh_Yeah & djplonker - My point still stands. Alcohol causes so many issues because you make major errors in judgment; vandalism, deaths caused by drink driving, alcoholism, GBH, in many cases is the reason why people beat their spouses, and it costs health services BILLIONS per year. Over a million visits to hospital in UK are due to alcohol related injuries.

Just because someone made the drug legal, doesn't mean it isn't dangerous and doesn't cause problems.

wsoutlaw871434d ago

Finders keepers doesnt really work hear because he doesnt have anything tangible. Theyll notice someone idioticly has a sub for 20 years and set him back to what he was at before. If they wanted to the could lock his acount for TOS.

wsoutlaw871434d ago

@oh yeah ofcoarse tobacco and alcohol have more deaths because they are LEGAL. If we decide to make all drugs and prescriptions legal then more would die obviously.

Eddie201011434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

Weather this guy told about the loop hole or not, Sony would have found out eventually ( probably pretty quickly) and fixed it, and a any people who used the loop hole would have those free years removed from there account. They wouldn't just let it go, that would be stupid. the guy who did this or anyone else, knows that PS+ isn't a free service and that what they are doing is in effect steeling. Just common sense.

zero_gamer1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

You'd probably get banned if you do this, or at the very least reset your PS+ account back to the rightful amount of days of subscription. It's not much different from deliberately glitching in-game environments to gain unfair advantage over your peers (you can get banned for cheating on PSN). You gain unfair advantage over other honest PS+ subscribers by doing this.

SolidStoner1434d ago

lol, @ some comments here at the end.. like nearly all of them are wrong at some point! :)

going from free PSN + glitch to murders, dealers and other crimes.... crazy stuff..

MarkusMcNugen1434d ago

@gaffyh and wsoutlaw87

You guys ever heard of prohibition? You can always do something called research and you would find that not only did people continue to use the drug, alcohol, after it was illegal but it caused more deaths and injuries. There was a large increase in crime due to the underground market it created, and people got sold bum moonshine that either made them very ill or killed them.

Pretty much the entire prohibition movement is parallel to the current drug situation. Its pretty much common sense. Make something illegal and a black market will pop-up in it's place. In the case of most drugs, they are smuggled in from outside the U.S. and groups like mexican cartels are making all the money while we spend tons of money trying to stop them; and it doesnt work.

So you think that if certain drugs were legalized that all of a sudden people who never did it before would just be like "Oh, its legal now, why not?" Besides the fact that they would be able to attain safer quantities and version that could be administered by a professional, you really think that would happen? Lets say heroin is legalized tomorrow, are you going to go out a give it a try because its legal now?

Back on topic. This was kind of a dumb move on his part. If I were him I would have shared this only with a few trusted friends and hope Sony never catches it. He basically screwed himself here.

Saito1434d ago

@Oh yeah and it seems you'll remain a kid with that mentality forever.

Did someone seriously think Finders Keepers is a legitimate point?

If you find a glitch like this you keep it to yourself as if Sony find out they fix it and can easily find out who used it and remove it.

H0RSE1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

Maybe I'm old fashioned and still have things like "morals" and "a conscience," but if I found a loophole like this, I would do 1 of 2 things:

1> inform Sony of it.
2> be aware of it, but not partake in it.

I do this all the time with exploits/glitches in games.

DeathOfTheFanBoy1434d ago

"We’ve contacted Sony to shed official light on the matter, and so far we’ve been told there’s no comment. We’ll update you once we know more."

Way to give the game away!

gapecanpie1434d ago

I don't blame the guy.. to play online should be free anyway... PC FTW!

H0RSE1434d ago

Although I get what you're saying, it isn't just a fee to play online - it's a fee to access what PSN/PS+ offers - you are paying to use a service. That being said, these things are still free on PC, like Steam.

Denethor_II1434d ago

Like getting away with a bank heist then bragging about it.

lol go ahead and let a man find out you have something of his, and you're claiming "finders keepers". i hope you have good health insurance.

This kid is the idiot of the century!

Agent_00_Revan1434d ago

Oh yea! At most, you tell your closest buddies so they can get in on the action.

By him telling the website, and them telling Sony, he's all but assured that he will lose everything past the first trial period.

mhunterjr1434d ago (Edited 1434d ago )

I love you people beat the system... And then reveal to the system, how they beat it.

Reminds me if these kids who robbed a store for tens of thousands. Baffled law enforcement for months... Until they started posting photos on Facebook of them holding ungodly wads of cash.

robothouserock1434d ago

"Haha zomg the police are so stupid they never found out I took all of this money I'm showing in this picture! Lolz!"
