Nintendo Says New, Main Series Mario and Zelda Games Are Coming to Wii U, But Is It Too Late?

8CN: In a recent interview with IGN, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata stated that new 3D Mario and Zelda games were coming to the Wii U, but that they don't yet have any specifics to announce. The big question, though, is whether or not these titles are going to be the console sellers that Nintendo hopes they'll be, or if it's a case of too little too late?

sinncross1348d ago

This is such a weird article... they link to an interview back in November 2012... that is hardly recent.

Kingthrash3601348d ago

oh my lol...wth? 2012?..that just reminds people how ninendo been lagging it...wait well zelda remake and mario 3d world could have been what they were talking about...that makes this article pointless.

iplay1up21348d ago

2012? Pay attention!!!!! The article IS DATED 2-12-2014...That is the YEAR 2014 YESTERDAY.

You should feel like a DORK.

I think it's too late for Nintendo to make the impact on the market they hoped for, but it's not too late to save the Wii U from becoming a worse seller, and instead being a solid 50 million seller.

Unfortunately there's a lot of work that needs to be done, and since Nintendo refuses to listen to consumers and upgrade some aspects of their platforms to current standards I don't see them saving the Wii U from becoming a GameCube seller unless it really takes off after dropping to $200.

Poor Journalism 101. Even has 4 reports and it's still up. Good work N4G!

Yes, but AFAIK it was developed by the team that did SM3DLand rather than the Mario Galaxy team.

BullyMangler1347d ago (Edited 1347d ago )

yea . so i wouldnt say its too late, more like too soon for another mario game, since wiiU already gots mario 3D world, one of the best games ever created . still no zelda wiiU, but it is time NOW for another new Excitebike, or Earthbound etc

Well maybe it is a New sunshine or a new galaxy. I wouldn't call Mario 3d world a traditional 3D mario game. But thats my opinion, the game is great thou!!

For a second I thought I posted that comment and was like wtf I don't remember typing that.

4logpc1347d ago

Never too late for Zelda.

DarkLord10031347d ago

It's never too late for a Mario or Zelda game...

ZainreFang1347d ago

Yeaaah... The interview linked makes this article BS in my mind at least... It's from 2012 and the interviewer is Richard George who doesn't even work for IGN anymore (he works for Nintendo now).
