Aussie gamers spent more on Xbox One than any other console in 2013

While the PlayStation 4 -- and PlayStation name in general -- is proving popular with Australian gamers, Microsoft's Xbox One is also performing strongly.

GribbleGrunger3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

Well they would considering Sony sent very few PS4s over to Australia in 2013; however that is going to change now that the PS4 has overtaken the X1 there.

dedicatedtogamers3723d ago

What's really interesting is to realize how close in proximity AUS is to New Zealand. I mean, we know NZ is stocked-to-the-hilt with PS4s...

Fireseed3723d ago

I wouldn't exactly classify 2000+ km as "close"...

hellzsupernova3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

No it is not! I live in New Zealand and last year Sony stores were saying back logged until March! The biggest online retailer has just restored stocks today!

You cannot walk into a store here a buy one.

When they opened up pre orders noël lemmings had two ps4s for every Xbox.

I hope you are being sarcastic cause the ps4 is a rare beast here

Sovereign593723d ago

Why do people still care about such trivialities? People should be having fun playing their games rather than worrying about which platform is selling more units in various parts of the world, as if the height of sales dictates the levels of fun gamers can achieve on the console.

GribbleGrunger3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

I don't particularly care for 'trivialities' myself but it does get on my nerves when articles manipulate data like this. It's Feb 13th 2014 for God's sake.

AngelicIceDiamond3723d ago

@Sovereign Highly Agreed.

Lets just play our games who cares about this stuff.

Beastforlifenoob3723d ago

No racism but in Australia there are people called BOGANS and they drink VB's, drive v8 holdens, have a suasge sizzle every 2 days, wear thongs and singlets everywhere and say "get da f**k out of our country cu**s. They would buy ALL of the call of duties, GTA and XBOX (its only bout 10% of the population). They loving spouting out things like "f**king sick c*nt or i'll fu**ing kill you, or something of that nature"

I asked my friends why the prefered the xbx1 and they were like "sick cu** its more powerful" or saying "its got kineckt"

And all the time im facepalming and thinking to my self WHAT THE F**K

JohnnyBadfinger3723d ago

@beastforlife

Lol that was hands down the funniest Aussie impersonation I have ever read on the interwebs. And there was no racism in that what so ever. We are a nation not a race.

On topic I bought the Xbox One purely because I prefer Xbox games and controller. I blame JRPGS for my hatred of the playstation brand. And that view will never change

Anybody in Australia wanting a PS4. JB HiFi in Sydney CBD now has them in stock.

hellzsupernova3723d ago

Exactly

You can spin any numbers into your favour, stupid article.

Bathyj3723d ago

PS4's have been pretty much sold out since launch. We got a few shipments but just dribs and drabs and most stores (excuse me, SHOPS) are still saying sold out til March.

@Gribble
@DTG

I see you both are regulars from GAF lol.

Below people are going to make excuses on how PS4 will overcome this? Warning Troll alert ahead.

BozoLoco3723d ago

Sony already said it. 2013 was Xbox One's year but 2014 has started and swung back into PS4 favour.

TheForwardUnto3723d ago

See it's already begun.

Do I really care what a corporation said? I'm not you.

OrangePowerz3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

Overcome this? It's only Australia, not a big market by any stretch.

Besides of that the PS4 has globally a higher demand in is sold out in many places. Not sure if that is the case in Australia.

Nero13143723d ago

Is the xbone out globally .

hellzsupernova3723d ago

@nero it's out in Australia....

DanielGearSolid3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

I mean its not really an excuse...

Its a fact... PS4 overtook X1 in AU

DanielGearSolid3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

Btw the spending does include the console itself so the $500 vs $400 thing plays into it

Jury3723d ago

Demand for ps4 far out stripped demand for xbone in Australia... Stock was the issue

bobtheimpaler3723d ago

As someone who lives in Australia. This is simply due to a supply issue. Demand for the ps4 is much higher than the xbone. Every shop you go to theres a waiting list for late February to March.

Kingthrash3603723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

cant "overcome" what happend 2 months ago....lol yall so trivial. who sold most in the world? overcome that...

Lilrizky3723d ago

Mate that comment in itself is a troll comment.

Because PS4 had already overcame this, coming from the same research

'NPD Group Australia also revealed that the PS4 had overtaken the Xbox One in the sales stakes, making it the most popular next-generation console as stock becomes more readily available in the country, topping off a wonderful trifecta for the company.'

hellzsupernova3723d ago

The New Zealand joke is amusing! But it's the same problem here as it is in Australia availability

WrAiTh Sp3cTr33723d ago

Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Max the Cursed Brotherhood, so on and so forth...why not?

jessupj3723d ago

Gimped mutliplats for the entire generation and supporting a company that tried to ruin console gaming.

Those are 2 very big reason there.

TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Well, this is neat. As the name suggests, Wrath of the Mutants is the rarest of things – a genuine arcade conversion. With most modern arcade games being ticket redemption machines, this is something seldom seen. In fact, the last arcade conversion we can recall was Raw Thrill’s own Cruis’n’ Blast on Switch back in 2021. This is also based on an older iteration of TMNT, harking back to the series from 2012-2017. It’s essentially breaking franchise continuity (we’ve had two different iterations of the Turtles since) and could even be considered nostalgic for a select few – those who grew up with 2012’s Turtles are probably in their late teens."
