Not Every Game Needs Bullet Penetration

A developer from Respawn Entertainment revealed today that Titanfall will not feature bullet penetration or destructible environments. This caused a debate over the reasoning behind the decision, and whether or not it's actually a good one.

This begs the question, why do people think it needs it?
Gamespresso discusses the 'perfect game', and why not every game needs bullet penetration.

It's sad that we even have to have this conversation. No one felt that bullet penetration was an absolutely necessary part of shooters until a Respawn dev mentioned not having it.

Developers should only implement features that for within the design parameters of their game. there are very practical reasons for not having it in titan fall.

I agree, one size doesn't always fit all.

If the developers believe that the game would be better off without it then that's obviously a very conscious decision, and one with plenty valid of reasoning behind it.

We need more Titanfall damage control articles!

Don't you realize everything is an issue to ps4 fans, as long as Titanfall is a MSFT exclusive they will complain about every detail they can. The worst part is it makes perfect sense why there isn't bullet penetration. Respawn has said from the jump that this games is about balance and bullet penetration definitely would tip the scales for the mechs., This is just more proof on the hypocrisy of ps4 fans, when it comes to the order and how they decided the screen aspect, ps4 players said trust the developers they know whats best for their game, but when it comes to Titanfall ps4 fans know what's best. It's laughable.

Look below at the comments from articles before Titanfall was exclusive, do you see the support ps4 fans had for Titanfall, now it's COD with mechs.

Did anyone think there was? I know I didn't. I personally feel it would be overkill to have bullet penetration in this game. Titans could just shoot up every building hoping to get a kill.

malokevi1768d ago

That seems to be the case every time Respwawn opens their mouth. Once the game drops I think most of the critics will fall silent.

This game sounds more and more terrible although I'd probably change my mind if they release on ps4

The more people I see try to derail the success of Titanfall, the more I realize how big the game is going to be.

OsirisBlack1768d ago

I do think it will be very big with the FPS community those that already like CoD or BF but I do not see it reeling in anyone who does already not like this genre.

4ShotKing1768d ago

Some of my favorite FPS games of all time don't have bullet penetration or destruction (e.g. TF2, Counter Strike, Quake, Unreal Touranment, Halo, Gears) so I honestly couldn't care less if the game does or doesn't have it. It's not going to make or break the game.

ThanatosDMC1768d ago

Counter Strike has bullet penetration.

Darth Gamer1768d ago

Agreed!! I am actually very happy that there is no bullet penetration. I very much like that the are basicly taking this game back to basics and then changing the basics!!

DanielGearSolid1768d ago (Edited 1768d ago )

Was their even enough outrage about this to make a "Don't worry" article?

Infamous2981768d ago (Edited 1768d ago )

I am sick of seeing titanfall damage control articles , just admit the hyped game did something wrong and move on, no need to whine about it.

Bathyj1768d ago

Last time I heard this much complaining about no penetration.......well, it was me.
