Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Sells 10 Million In Q3 2013

SpawnFirst's Angie Santiago writes "Ubisoft’s Third Quarter sales report states that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag sold 10 million copies across all platforms. These sales help to attribute to the quality of the franchise as well as the longevity of the series." (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Assassin's Creed 4 is probably the best in the series. I have it on PS4 and love every minute of it.

I remember that I used to tell everyone that this is going to be the best Assassin's Creed game in the series (even though I haven't played one before), but no one believed me. Look at it now!

Cool story, I know...

A fun game doesn't mean it's the best game. Somebody could find a game fun but it may be voted one of the worst games of the year.

Imo a great game would be one that has a good story gameplay and doesn't feel like you're forcing yourself to play it. Which AC4 doesn't but the story is far from great, it's probably one of the most forgettable out of the Assassin creed games.

It's the most fun, but it's far from being the best.

Wha???

If the point of a game is to have fun, then surely the most fun game is the best, in that it is fulfilling its role most effectively?

I mean, if not for fun, why else would you play a game?

Unless you mean it is the most fun but it doesn't really have enough Assassin elements in to be considered and AC game?

Im debating on downloading this game or tomb raider. Im new to both series. I find it hard to purchase tomb raider at the moment because its a port... And i have friends praising both. Any thoughts or advice?

Both are great games. Get both if you can but I am liking AC4 the most as it is more of an open world game inste4ad of a linear scripted game like Tomb Raider.

Hard choice. BOTH are excellent games. I know. I didn't help much... :/

Yeah this is a tough choice, as both are great games. I agree this is probably the best AC since release, and it is a wonderful game everyone, even non AC fans should play. However Tomb Raider is also a fantastic game, one that I personally would consider one of the better versions in the series.

Heres the thing though. All game sequels are designed to be pick up and play, even for people who have never played the previous ones. However for a game like AC, playing the past ones gives you a serious wealth of knowledge into the series and will explain a lot as to who you are, what you are doing, and where the story is going. This one focuses more on the past then the present, which I believe is a good thing, especially for newcomers, yet still, I would almost suggest playing the others first.

Now Tomb Raider is a reboot of the series, and an origin story for Lara Croft, thus making it by default the easier game to pick up. Now the fact it is a port shouldn't do anything to sway your decision, UNLESS you have already played it. The game is one of those must plays for all action adventure/platformer fans. Crystal Dynamics really outdid themselves with this game.

As No_Limit says, pick up both if you can, both are fantastic, and easy pick up and play without worrying about the previous games. Just Tomb Raider is the easier of the two to do that with.

Good luck on your decision, and Happy gaming!

If you ever decide to play the other assassins creed games id recommend playing those first. It's going to be a lot different if you play 4 first.

Thanks guys. Read all the comments and i appreciate ur advice. I just started downloading tomb raider. When i have alot more time in my hands ima dive into assasins creed games then jump on 4

Nice, this game deserves it. It was my favorite AC, especially after the disaster that was AC3

Yes it is great and i did enjoy it....but i cant help but feel that this should of been a separate franchise about pirates rather than tied in to an assassins ga,e....i didn't like really like the story and nor did i really feel like an assassin like i did with altair or Ezio

To each his own I suppose, I keep coming back to this series but have never had the patience to finish any of them due to just becoming bored with it.
ceballos77mx  +   163d ago
I was surprised about this game was kinda doubting on getting it since AC3 bored me to sleep but on thus one I just cant stop playing it, I can spend hours just raiding boats and not advancing the story at all.

Haha, I have done the same too...one of the few games that I mess around doing random stuff for no reason in. At first, I didn't like this game and I still don't like the story one bit, but going around in ships and doing all the side activities is actually fun and a good use of my time when I have nothing else to do. Minor things annoy me about this game, but overall, I am having a BLAST playing this gem!!
ceballos77mx  +   163d ago
My major complaint about it its the targeting system, specially on enemy ships I have lost many ships including plenty man o' wars because I get hit from everywhere and Kenway either runs around trying to climb or instead of countering bends over to pick a weapon.
WilDRangeRrfc  +   163d ago
Haha wasted a whole evening last night doing the same, saw a convoy of Spanish ships attacking a British ship and couldn't help myself I had to jump in(from UK) it ended with me and British ship giving it to the Spanish PRICELESS
redknight80  +   163d ago
Haha, I literally did the same thing last night, as well! I am now living in The States, but yeah...pouncing on the Spanish ships brings a joy to me. Too bad the British ships ended up attacking me too because a random ship got in my way and I rammed the bloody thing :(
redknight80  +   163d ago
oh man...yeah I have done that so often too, ended up climbing on stuff instead of attacking someone. After many occurrences, I have decided to stay away from the rope on the ship that once you get near you go straight up, lol...that caused a lot of frustration when I was still getting used to the game.
WilDRangeRrfc  +   163d ago
Really enjoying the game only played the first as I thought it got a bit boring. Black Flag is great, story is good and there is loads of diversity in gameplay compared to others.Being a pirate and having your own ship is fun especially when they all belt out a tune I swear it feels like your really there, funny thing is I only bought it for my PS4 as there's not a lot to get at the moment, great game and sales are deserved, now come on Ubisoft I want Watchdogs
