What is a “Real” Gamer?

Every message board and every comments section on the internet seems to address the same question. When people aren’t arguing over their favorite consoles and titles, they’re all attempting to define what makes a “real” gamer. The answer to this question varies based on the person, and the criteria has no set of standards. If you play games, you're a gamer. It's that simple. But people likes to complicate things.

No. Base on what I read form some here: it depends on which system you pay on, and the types of games they think you should be playing with the method of input they accept.

So I have been gaming for more than 20 year, but I do not qualify as a "real gamer". I am quite happy not being one, by the way. "Real gamers" seem to be really angry and anti-social.

Well, if I base myself on what you describe on your post, I couldn't call myself a real gamer either. And I have been gaming since I was 4 years old. I'm 32 today. But I see your point.
