The Order: 1886 Devs Always Targeted MSAA for High IQ; Aspect Ratio Is Artistic Choice, Won’t Change

GearNuke: "Founder of Ready at Dawn dropped a couple of important information regarding the resolution of The Order: 1886 yesterday. We have also come to know that the resolution and aspect ratio is final, and same with the anti-aliasing technique used in the game."

sucks it has no multiplayer. Seeing that game prices were raised 5 -10 dollars here in Canada i'm gonna wait for it to be cheaper before i buy.

Rimeskeem1539d ago

or you can just rent it but this game will probably have lots of replay ability knowing its about killing werewolves

GarrusVakarian1539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

Although i was hoping for fullscreen 1080p, 1920x800p with 4xMSAA will make this game the cleanest, sharpest, most HD console game of all time. The image quality is going to be so good.

Isn't a good single player game worth $60 anymore? Why does everything have to have multiplayer?

There are single player games that I have sunk as many hours into as any multiplayer game I have played.

Bathyj1539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

If you made a list of the top 100 games in history, I'm guessing 80 of them would have been single player, or at least single player focused.

Has there ever been an MP game with a good story or was actually emotionally engaging? I know I left myself wide open there (free hit boys) cos someone will think of something, but they are few and far between and my point was not every game needs it.

Not sad about this news at all.

Lucas221539d ago

in Canada it cost 69.99 now plus tax 80 dollars

oODEADPOOLOo1539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

"Why does everything have to have multiplayer? "

It dosent need plyr vs plyr multi but coop would have made sense being a squad oriented game. For that reason I'll prob pick it up when its at half off or less if I buy it at all.

Salooh1539d ago

Bathyj
The last of us multiplayer makes your heart beat fast when you face 4 people a lone with a bow lol.

True but still /s ^^

I agree , every time i show my brother a new game he ask if it will have multiplayer. It's sad that people only want that these days. I prefer

GarrusVakarian1539d ago

"Isn't a good single player game worth $60 anymore? Why does everything have to have multiplayer? "

Exactly.

Volkama1539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

I don't feel games need to support every mode or every taste, and seeing a game focus only on single or multiplayer doesn't deter me at all.

But I'm not sure $60 is the right price for games in general. It's a high price that works well for the cream of the crop, but so many other average or good games are passed by that could do so much better and lower prices.

porkChop1539d ago

"Isn't a good single player game worth $60 anymore?"

I think his point was that here in Canada, these games aren't $60 anymore. We're being charged $70 + 13% tax which brings the total price up to $80 per game. I'm still getting the game Day 1 regardless but I do understand where he's coming from. Because of the price increase I am going to be a bit less open to buying certain games (mostly multiplats) until the price comes down a little bit. $80 is a bit much for some games.

ppl who won't buy a sp only game today are whats wrong with gamers these days

GTgamer1539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

So BioShock infinite/GOW3/NiNoKuni/Metrola stLight/ doesn't deserve to be $60 dollars because it has no MP-_- eh I can't with you guys some of the best games of this generation didn't have MP imma support RAD new IP because sounds ambitious and like they put allot work into it.

medman1539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

How does having no multiplayer matter that much to some people? Some of the best games of the last generation, and of all time, are single player only or predominantly single player experiences. I would rather see Ready at Dawn craft a brilliant single player experience, just as Bioshock, God of War, MGS, or Mass Effect did. They can branch out with the second installment in the franchise if they so choose and add multiplayer or co-op at that point, but they have to nail the single player portion to ensure they get this franchise off the ground successfully and get to make the 2nd, 3rd, etc. installment.

Good. If they envisioned the game with that aspect ratio then keep it. This like field of view, HUD etc have all been developed with the black bars in mind... If the game looks great AND plays great, black bars will be the least of my worries.

DarkLordMalik1539d ago

4xMSAA, 1080p like visual fidelity(with black bars) and The Order is definitely one of the best next-gen game, IQ wise, so far.

People keep forgetting that even Resident Evil 4 had no MP/Co-op and had black bars like The Order: 1886, yet it was one of the best single player game released in the PS2 generation.

theWB271539d ago

They remember...it's just the age of the mine mine mine gamer. So anything that doesn't exactly fit their "vision" is going to get heaps of unwarranted crap thrown it's way.

If it had MP...then RAD would be getting the how many maps question. How big are the maps. Oh the single player should be the focus so I don't think it needed a MP.

I'm glad they are going with their vision.

bjmartynhak1539d ago

theWB27,
And player count, don't forget player count :p

I'm also glad they're sticking with their vision!

Bathyj1539d ago

Why do people think its simply about being easier to make and not realize the camera will be pulled back and you will have a wider field of view. You will have much better peripheral vision and will see something on screen sooner. Its the cynical mentality the world has now. Oh, you could hit 1080p hahaha. I doubt it has anything to do with the performance of the game.

Kayant1539d ago

"the aspect ratio is a core artistic choice (frame, FOV, etc), added performance is a bonus but nowhere near crucial"

The above is important to note because they are at least not hiding that their choice does comes with added performance benefits.

I think we should give them the benefit of doubt and see how it works in gameplay before crying about it.

Admittedly for movies I will more than often go to a 16:9 ratio because of my laptop and I don't loss than much FOV. It bothers quite a bit sometimes. But I just remembered it hardly bothered me or did I even notice it when I was playing Dragon's dogma for example.

Reaon1539d ago

Am I the only one who hates these black bars? It adds absolutely nothing to the experience, only detracts from it, literally.
I'll admit that if you don't know it's there, you probably won't mind it, but once you realise they're there, you can't "unsee" it.
It kind of ruined Dragon's Dogma for me because I noticed it right from the start.

Volkama1539d ago

I don't like black bars. I'll buy the game anyway (barring some disastrous feedback and reviews when it arrives), but I'd prefer to be able to disable the black bars.

Same with "film grain". No games should force film grain on me, it just looks bad.

I'm not set on "motion blur" either. My eyes can blur things that are in motion just fine.

So basically any effects that potentially take away from pure visual quality or clarity, I wish those could be disabled in all cases.

Nyromith1539d ago

This is very disappointing. For me, 16:9 is already a bit too narrow frame for video gaming. Making it even more narrow and wasting 30% of my screen on black bars is definitely not going to enhance my experience with the game.

I'm probably still going to buy it, just hope it will not become a trend to sacrifice screen space for better graphics.

johny51539d ago (Edited 1539d ago )

What I don't get is if they are going to use 4x SuperSampling why not just render the game in 4k "2160p" with no AA at 16:9 at 30fps?

"4xSSAA at 1080p is practically the same as running it at 4k resolution except having the benefits of extra pixels"

They could get SONY to unlock 4k output with a patch! A matter of fact Frozenbyte wanted to do just that with Trine 2!

windblowsagain1539d ago

I'm sure many games could be 4k in time @ 30fps.

But 4K tv's are a new thing and most just support 1080p.

johny51539d ago

I don't know why people disagree with me?

I mean I am right and it does make sense to run it in 4k "if it can" it's not like the game can't be played in 1080p and still be downsampled internally!

It's still the same effect either way unless someone wants to school me?

Just think of the marketing, competitors would not know what to do!

Destrania1539d ago

Okay, but who the heck has 4k TV's right now? Pretty much nobody.

Pandamobile1539d ago

You couldn't be more wring about everything you just said.
