Bad Boss Battles in Gaming History - Part Two

SuperPhillip Central writes, "Last November we began a new segment on SuperPhillip Central, Bad Boss Battles in Gaming History. Now, it's several months later and we have a new installment to share. The rationale for our choices of awful boss encounters can be because of one or many of the following issues: they're forgettable, they're boring, they're tedious, they're in the game for no reason, they're counter-intuitive, or they're just plain not fun. After you've read our latest picks, feel free to throw in some agreement/disagreement and ideas for bosses to consider for part three." (Culture, Final Fantasy IX, Mass Effect 2, Mega Man X7, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, PC, PS2, PS3, Retro, Sonic the Hedgehog, Xbox 360)

how about the fight against the alien at the end of conkers bad fur day? that boss battle took me a week to beat thanks to the shitty n64 controller stick. aww good times, i miss playing raptor on split screen, its to bad they removed that from live an reloaded.

Really? It wasn't even challenging or epic; it was just plain stupid and cheesy. It played like a bad martial arts film parody.

I disagree, If you played every MGS before 4 then you know it was epic. Fighting Ocelot through all the 'stages' of past games. Seeing his fighting style & poses change, the different HUD tunes playing while fighting his different 'stages'. It was like a culmination of my entire childhood into one fight scene. A giant nostalgia ridden joy ride.

And he was challenging (He was in The Boss extreme) per se, but i did enjoy finally being able to beat the snot out of him without Major Zero yelling TIME PARADOX!!!

And that's exactly why I didn't like it. It relied entirely on nostalgia value and came off as too cheesy and over the top. The sudden transition into a fighting game style with an entirely different control scheme only made it worse. Compare this with The Boss in the previous game where you have to use every skills in your arsenal while battling her within a 10 minute time limit.

That wasn't Major Zero btw, that was Campbell.
