Minecraft Is The Most-Selling Video Game of All Time at 42 Million Units

GamersNexus: "Minecraft is presently available on the PC -- which hosts the second most of its sales, at 14+ million (behind mobile) -- mobile platforms, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3. The game originally released in 2009 as a tech demo / alpha, where it sold millions of copies rapidly, causing several upsets along the way; Notch, the game's creator, at one point had $810,000 USD of his PayPal funds frozen due to the extreme influx of cash over night."

No real surprises here, the game keeps getting more and more content, not only the modding community but the devs themselves.

Love it or hate it Minecraft is here to stay.

Wii Sports sold over 42mil, so no...

Maybe for a not bundled game, but does that actually matter? It is a full game, played by a lot for a long time, not like a minesweeper game on PCs.

i guess im one of the few who knows tht minecraft is a ripoff of terraria. notch is little more than a fraud who got rich on someone elses idea. plus i dont like the game to be honest. (and yes terraria came first)

Azurite1382d ago

You're kidding right?
"Terraria was developed by Re-Logic, with development starting in January 2011"

Minecraft: "It was publicly released for the PC on May 17, 2009"

jimjam34421382d ago

thats not true, it was released in november 2011.

I played minecraft in 2009 so your argument is invalid.

Terraria is nothing more than a mc clone in 2D.

Get your facts straight and yes notch can be a prick sometimes

You guess you're the only one because you actually are, Minecraft is is older than that. Infiniminer would have been a better guess.

Pretty much everyone I know owns Minecraft so yeah, I can believe it. Even my little brother and sister have it on their tablets. Fun for all the family~
