For the last few years, most major sporting games have had a mode that pits you as a single player progressing through their career. These can be fun, but damn it, they're not enough.
I would kill for something like a Kuroko's Basketball RPG. Being a new player working their way to take on the Generation of Miracles. Lol, it's just too niche of an idea unfortunately. Most sports games want to focus on the gameplay. Story is thrown to the wayside in favor of mechanics. Which, I agree... Sports games NEED to have good mechanics. That's what they're about. However, I would really like to see an actual well thought out story placed into a sports game. Whether it's NFL, NBA, NHL, etc.
I would love to see some more sports RPG's. Inazuma Eleven is pretty good fun, but there's not a lot of other choice out there. I'd like to see a football (soccer) RPG. And I'd really love a motor racing RPG, where battles involved overtaking opponents (as well as off track stuff).
