3+million in 3 months is great any way you put it but $500 is a little steep for most products

It's well worth it though the games are amazing and by lowering the price the competition will be even greater between consoles

cyguration1355d ago

It can't do anything my PC can already do FOR FREE!

YouTube? Free on PC.
Amazon/Hulu/Twitch? Free on PC.

Motion/voice controls? Buy a Kinect and hook it up to your PC.

Games? Cheaper on Steam.

1080p 60fps? In every game... on PC.

Please tell me what you get for $500 that other devices don't already do and do better?

Oh wait, you can't... you used your one bubble to pimp a console that's a $500 brick if you don't get the day-one update.

TrueJerseyDevil1355d ago

Okay calm down PC fanboy..... You can do all those things on your PC and that is true, but PC gaming is a hasle ;

Lets mention that console gaming is way more convenient; no crashing, no settings to mess with, no disadvantage if you are not good with the mouse and keyboard or can't afford a high end PC, etc....
(do not say "oh you can just use a controller" that defeats the purpose)

Console gaming is also more comfortable since you don't have to hunch over a desk and can sit back and relax on the couch, bed, etc...

WheatBread1355d ago (Edited 1355d ago )

almost every game. Virtua fighter 2 and hydro thunder only run at 640 x 480.

but yeah master race teh money team. we be winnin.

cyguration1355d ago

@TrueJerseyDevil

LOL, WUT?!

I only really play PC games with an Xbox 360 controller. I used to really like the Xbox brand until Microsoft decided to screw us over.

Also, the Xbox One takes longer to load games than my PC. With Steam Big Picture mode I just point and click and BAM! I'm in the game. I don't have to cycle through metro tabs to find what I want to play.

Also, I have an HDMI splitter to the TV, so playing from the coach simply requires that I plug the HDMI cable from my video card to the TV... that's it. Done. Couch gaming.

I don't get your attack on what life said.

"It can't do anything my PC can already do FOR FREE!"

Well...the X1 isn't marketed as a PC.

"Motion/voice controls? Buy a Kinect and hook it up to your PC."

You can hook the Kinect2 up to your PC? Nope...

"Games? Cheaper on Steam"
Uh...there's a shit ton of games that you can't get on PC. Let me know when I can get Forza from Steam.

"1080p 60fps? In every game...PC."

Yes..if you have a capable machine. When I hear some PC gamers even they say in games like Tomb Raider with visuals max and a crazy good rig...TressFX still makes the game drop below 50fps.

"Please tell me what you get for $500 that other devices don't already do and do better? "

Isn't that a BS blanket argument? It plays Halo, Forza, Gears better than ANY device I could find.

What do you get from a 900 dollar Ipad that a 300 Kindle can't do?

"Oh wait, you can't... you used your one bubble to pimp a console that's a $500 brick if you don't get the day-one update."

You just named all these things a PC does better, but answer me this. If you buy a monster PC for gaming and all other things and take it home..hook it up..boot it up.

Can you buy a game off of Steam, or get Youtube-Amazon-Hulu-Twitch without hooking it up to the internet?

I don't think so...so essentially the PC is the same brick as the X1 if you don't connect it first. Crazy ish there huh...

cyguration1355d ago

@theWB27

"Well...the X1 isn't marketed as a PC."

No, it's marketed as an "All in One" entertainment device, but it's more expensive and less functional than an "all in one" PC.

"You can hook the Kinect2 up to your PC? Nope... "

Why do I need Kinect 2? I can use normal Kinect and it functions faster and more responsive on PC than it does Xbox 360, plus it's cheaper than Kinect 2.

"Uh...there's a shit ton of games that you can't get on PC. Let me know when I can get Forza from Steam."

There's an Xbox 360 emulator on the way, buddy. I'll let you know how it works after I install it.

"Isn't that a BS blanket argument? It plays Halo, Forza, Gears better than ANY device I could find."

So you pay $500 to play Halo, Forza and Gears? That's it? Yeah... um... no, that's not a great sales pitch there, buddy.

"Can you buy a game off of Steam, or get Youtube-Amazon-Hulu-Twitch without hooking it up to the internet?"

I have a cell phone... I bought a James Bond game off Amazon, had it shipped to my house and installed it on my PC. I ran it, offline, through Steam.

BAM!

theWB271355d ago

"No, it's marketed as an "All in One" entertainment device, but it's more expensive and less functional than an "all in one" PC. "

That plays Xbox video games. Again...can I buy a PC for 500 bucks that does everything and plays every PC game to its full capabilities? Steer me to it if you can.

"Why do I need Kinect 2? I can use normal Kinect and it functions faster and more responsive on PC than it does Xbox 360, plus it's cheaper than Kinect 2. "

Why do you need Kinect at all if PC already does everything Xbox can do and better? (Why do you use the Xbox controller? Isn't there a better PC controller out there?)

"There's an Xbox 360 emulator on the way, buddy. I'll let you know how it works after I install it."

There's an Xbox360 emulator 8 years after its release. Great...now where's the X1 emulator to play Forza 5? You wrote this statement today...you proclaimed PC does everything better now.

"So you pay $500 to play Halo, Forza and Gears? That's it? Yeah... um... no, that's not a great sales pitch there, buddy. "

One...yes I do game on Xbox in order to play those games. My preference. Among the other games I enjoy. Thanks for avoiding my Iphone Kindle statement.

Also, thanks for also skipping the 1080p 60fps on every game since that isn't true at all. : )

"I have a cell phone... I bought a James Bond game off Amazon, had it shipped to my house and installed it on my PC. I ran it, offline, through Steam."

That didn't answer my question. Steam doesn't come pre-installed on every computer does it? In that case you can also use your cell phone to update the Xbox One.

If you could answer it correctly. Can you buy a PC..take it home...and game without internet? Can you take advantage of ALL the cheap games and 1080p 60fps gaming without first hooking your PC up to internet? Not through your phone...

@theWB27

"Again...can I buy a PC for 500 bucks that does everything and plays every PC game to its full capabilities? Steer me to it if you can."

"Why do you need Kinect at all if PC already does everything Xbox can do and better? (Why do you use the Xbox controller? Isn't there a better PC controller out there?)"

That's why PC is cool... because I like 360 controllers best, so that's how I play on PC. Is there a better controller? Who knows, I don't play with it. I prefer my 360 controllers.

"Great...now where's the X1 emulator to play Forza 5? You wrote this statement today...you proclaimed PC does everything better now."

Not Forza Per se, but Project CARS and Assetto Corsa are available right now and they run in 4K resolutions, so that's close enough.

"Also, thanks for also skipping the 1080p 60fps on every game since that isn't true at all. : )"

You're right... it's not true... you can use Catalyst Control panels or the Nvidia setup to brute force every game to run at 4K. Can the 720p do that?

"Steam doesn't come pre-installed on every computer does it? In that case you can also use your cell phone to update the Xbox One."

I don't need Steam at all actually. You can buy and play PC games on disc if you want. Day one. No updates. Can you do the same with an Xbox One?

"Can you buy a PC..take it home...and game without internet? Can you take advantage of ALL the cheap games and 1080p 60fps gaming without first hooking your PC up to internet? Not through your phone..."

Heck yes. PCs come pre-installed with an OS, especially Windows 7. Just plop in your disc and game. All the necessary drivers come with the games. As I asked, though, can you do the same with that $500 Xbox without it being a brick? Can you game WITHOUT the internet on day one?

http://www.ascendtech.us/am...

This computer can play every game at it's finest? 369 dollars and it can run the likes of The Witcher, Crysis 3, or Tomb Raider(with tressFX) at it's highest settings? I find it near impossible for this machine to run games at their highest when I see forum posters talking about their Titan GPU's not able to run games at a rock solid 60fps with tressFX enabled. Framerate still drops...so I know a CPU that costs less than a single GPU can run a game at the same equivalent.

"Not Forza Per se, but Project CARS and Assetto Corsa are available right now and they run in 4K resolutions, so that's close enough."

Forza..stop moving the goalposts. Yes..I'm not disputing what PC is capable of. 4k is NOT standard PC power either. Stop throwing the highest number out there like I don't already know this.

"You're right... it's not true... you can use Catalyst Control panels or the Nvidia setup to brute force every game to run at 4K. Can the 720p do that?"

Those games would be unplayable if you don't have the rig to do so. Now you're talking to me as if I don't know how this works. I don't play resolutions..if I did then I would be building a PC. PC doesn't have all the GAMES I want. So I game where the games I prefer are. You can't brute force any computer to run a game at 4k. Period.

"I don't need Steam at all actually. You can buy and play PC games on disc if you want. Day one. No updates. Can you do the same with an Xbox One?"

You're a liar. Diablo requires a persistent online connection. So does WoW...Ubisoft does also. SimCity(until their update) requires online. Ubisoft ditched their DRM, but still require you to connect once.

Just like the Xbox One...you need Internet. Especially to take advantage of one of your original points on why PC is better. Steam and cheap games. Link me to a computer that has never hooked into the internet that can buy a cheap steam game and install it and play! PLEASE!!!!

cyguration1355d ago

"This computer can play every game at it's finest? 369 dollars and it can run the likes of The Witcher, Crysis 3, or Tomb Raider(with tressFX) at it's highest settings?"

I linked to a customizable build at a base price. Add the GPU/RAM as necessary and that's your total. One or the other will still come up cheaper than $500.

"Forza..stop moving the goalposts. Yes..I'm not disputing what PC is capable of. 4k is NOT standard PC power either. Stop throwing the highest number out there like I don't already know this."

Forza is a racing game. You want it just for the name or for a feature? If you want a realistic racing game with customization and liveries, there's nothing Forza can do that Project CARS can't. It's just a name.

"PC doesn't have all the GAMES I want. So I game where the games I prefer are. You can't brute force any computer to run a game at 4k. Period."

If you have the proper setup and you know HOW, then yes you can. It's not even that hard. You just setup a custom profile to do so, if you know how. That's the beauty of PC... options. You don't have to get stuck playing at 720p if you don't like it.

"You're a liar. Diablo requires a persistent online connection. So does WoW...Ubisoft does also. SimCity(until their update) requires online. Ubisoft ditched their DRM, but still require you to connect once."

Talk about moving the goalposts, and doing so with a conjunction fallacy of epic proportions. I never mentioned Diablo 3 in the same way I never Forza Horizon (which also requires you to be online). It's common knowledge that MMOs require always-on connections, same thing with games with always-on DRM. No one is talking about those games -- not to mention some are also on console. This is about games that don't require internet to play, and there are tons of them on PC. You CANNOT play the Xbox One without internet, no matter how you cut the custard.

"Panic" no. Business 101 its called staying competitive.

Dlacy13g1355d ago

A rumor is a sign of panic? Lol. I would suggest you pull the article and repost it IF they do a price drop in 2014.

Godmars2901355d ago

But we're not talking about a simple price drop if the rumor is true, but a redesign. A new model which removes the BR drive rather than what everyone wants gone, which is Kinect.

Dlacy13g1355d ago

if ....if....if...if....come back if IT IS happening.

GribbleGrunger1355d ago (Edited 1355d ago )

I'm waiting for the articles to start coming in explaining how the rumour of a cheaper X1 is the reason the current X1 isn't selling so well. I'm sure we'll see a few posters using that when the January numbers come in. MS could well jump on that bandwagon a little later on too.

NeoTribe1355d ago

Thats what cracks me up. They refuse to get rid of kinect eeven though "most" people dont want the trash. Yet there fine with taking out disk drive so your forced to buy games straight from ms on a 500g hd... yeah, have fun with that...

cyguration1355d ago

It's been confirmed by Kotaku, CNET and VG 24/7.

THis is like the Durango DRM scandal from last year all over again.

TrueJerseyDevil1355d ago

No i do not believe it is a sign of panic. The Xbox One is selling great and it will only get better with the exclusive's they have coming out this year
(Titanfall, quantum break, Sunset overdrive).

WheatBread1355d ago

No they're probably just releasing one without the kinect like the 360.

chuckyj11355d ago

I don't know not really... Remember when the PS3 launched? They cut the price on that pretty quick and it recovered...
